For years, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has been one of the most dominant athletes in world athletics, rewriting records in both the 400m hurdles and the 400m flat. This week, however, attention shifted away from the track as fellow Olympians and fans celebrated a deeply personal milestone in her life.

Nearly four years after marrying former NFL player Andre Levrone Jr., Sydney is now preparing to welcome the couple’s first child, a baby girl expected in July. The Olympic champion recently gave fans a glimpse into her journey toward motherhood by sharing touching photos from her baby shower, surrounded by family, friends, and several well-known figures from the Olympic community.

On May 26, McLaughlin-Levrone uploaded a collection of images from the event on Instagram, offering an intimate look at the celebration. In one of the standout photographs, the track superstar wore a flowing peach-colored maternity gown while gently cradling her growing baby bump.

Another image focused on a small pair of baby shoes carefully placed among the decorations, symbolizing the excitement surrounding the arrival of the couple’s daughter. Additional photographs showcased the elegant baby shower venue, decorated with soft colors and floral arrangements.

One particularly eye-catching photo displayed a beautifully prepared dining table featuring pastel flowers in shades of peach, cream, pink, and white. The event included carefully arranged table settings, elegant floral decorations, decorative plates, and a stylish cake designed for the celebration.

Among the most touching moments shared online was a photograph of Sydney and Andre Levrone Jr. together, smiling as he lovingly held her baby bump while the couple prepared for the next chapter of their lives as first-time parents.

Alongside the collection of photos, McLaughlin-Levrone posted an emotional caption reflecting her gratitude and happiness during this special period in her life.

“A Wildflower is in Bloom 🌸🫶🏽 Baby shower recap 💕🥹 so thankful for the people surrounding us and our baby girl. We couldn’t do it without you,” she wrote.

Pregnancy Journey Has Brought Physical Challenges

Although the celebration highlighted joy and excitement, McLaughlin-Levrone’s pregnancy journey has also come with physical difficulties.

The Olympic star has openly discussed some of the challenges she has faced over the past several months, including severe morning sickness during the early stages of pregnancy. As her pregnancy progressed, she also dealt with round ligament pain and pelvic soreness, adding further physical strain to an already demanding experience.

Those struggles made the baby shower even more meaningful, representing not only a celebration of the upcoming birth but also recognition of everything she has endured while preparing for motherhood.

Despite the physical difficulties, Sydney has maintained a positive outlook and continues focusing on the health of both herself and her daughter.

The track star recently explained that her immediate priority is ensuring a safe and healthy delivery before eventually returning to elite competition.

“My number one goal right now is to deliver my daughter healthy, have a healthy baby in July, and then we’ll start working our way back for the Olympics,” she said.

That statement made it clear that while motherhood is currently her main focus, her athletic ambitions remain firmly alive.

Fellow Olympians Flood Social Media With Support

As soon as McLaughlin-Levrone posted the baby shower photos online, fellow Olympians quickly filled the comments section with messages of support and excitement.

Among those attending the celebration was Athing Mu, Sydney’s training partner and fellow Olympic gold medalist. Mu, who recently married Russian middle-distance runner Yegor Nikolayev in March, attended the event wearing a white gown and later shared her reaction online.

“Gorg ✨🤍💐,” Mu commented beneath the post.

Another high-profile athlete to react was alpine skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin, who responded with heart emojis in support of McLaughlin-Levrone.

Although the two compete in completely different sports, Shiffrin has consistently shown admiration for Sydney’s achievements. During the 2024 Summer Olympics, Shiffrin publicly celebrated McLaughlin-Levrone’s historic performance in the women’s 400m hurdles final.

In that race, Sydney successfully defended her Olympic title while setting another world record with an astonishing time of 50.37 seconds. Following the performance, Shiffrin praised her on social media by writing: “Like I said… QUEEN. Literally.”

The connection between athletes from different sports highlighted just how respected McLaughlin-Levrone has become across the entire Olympic community.

Anna Hall and LA28 Join Celebration

Other athletes also shared their excitement after seeing the baby shower pictures.

Anna Hall commented enthusiastically beneath the post, writing: “so excited for you!!! 💓”

Even the official 2028 Summer Olympics social media page joined the celebration by responding with emotional emojis.

The overwhelming reaction from fellow Olympians demonstrated how widely admired McLaughlin-Levrone is, not only for her performances on the track but also for the way she carries herself away from competition.

Supporters and athletes alike appeared genuinely thrilled to see her embracing motherhood while still planning for the future of her athletic career.

Motherhood and LA28 Remain Part of Her Long-Term Vision

Although Sydney is fully embracing this new chapter of life, she has also made it clear that her journey in athletics is far from over.

McLaughlin-Levrone is still targeting a return to competition in time for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, which remain one of her major long-term goals.

Reports suggest that she and Andre Levrone Jr. carefully considered the timing of their pregnancy so she would still have enough time to recover physically, return to training, and prepare properly for the next Olympic cycle.

Sydney has also spoken thoughtfully about the future she hopes to create for her daughter.

Rather than placing expectations on her child, the Olympic champion explained that she wants her daughter to feel free to explore different interests and passions while growing up.

“Obviously, we’re going to encourage her to try different sports and different activities, and whatever she’s drawn to,” McLaughlin-Levrone said.

At the same time, she emphasized the importance of dedication and personal growth in whatever path her daughter eventually chooses.

“But I want her to excel in whatever it is she decides to pursue,” she added.

Sydney Determined to Return to the Highest Level

Even while focusing on motherhood, McLaughlin-Levrone has repeatedly stated that she still intends to return to elite competition.

The Olympic champion explained that one of the things she looks forward to most is eventually showing her daughter what it means to pursue a dream at the highest level.

“I’m just excited to have my daughter and see her grow and develop, and for her to see her mom go back to doing what she loves and train at the highest level possible to strive for her dreams,” she said.

Those comments reinforced the mindset that has defined her athletic career for years — discipline, ambition, and purpose.

For now, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is embracing the joys and challenges of pregnancy while preparing for the arrival of her daughter in July. Yet quietly in the background, the road toward 2028 Summer Olympics continues to shape the next stage of her remarkable story.
