Ryan Reynolds stunned as Wrexham completes a double transfer for a Leeds star and former Man Utd player.
Wrexham are reportedly preparing an ambitious double move for Leeds United striker Lukas Nmecha and former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe as Phil Parkinson’s side look to strengthen their squad for another promotion push.
The Welsh club narrowly missed out on a Championship play-off place last season, but their ambitions have not changed. Wrexham are determined to go one step further this time around, with promotion to the Premier League remaining the ultimate target for the club and co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Reynolds is reportedly plotting an ambitious double move
Following the remarkable progress made since the Hollywood pair took control of the club, Wrexham have continued to invest heavily in their playing squad. However, their approach to recruitment appears to have changed slightly this summer.
Rather than attempting to bring in a large number of players, the club have reportedly concentrated on adding established quality to key positions.
Wrexham continue ambitious recruitment
Wrexham have already completed several notable additions during the current transfer window.
Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray has joined, while Ben Whiteman arrived from Preston North End after serving as the Championship club’s captain.
The Welsh side have also strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
The three players have reportedly cost Wrexham around £16 million combined, highlighting the financial backing available to Parkinson as he attempts to guide the club into the Premier League.
The potential arrivals of Nmecha and Tuanzebe would represent another statement of intent.

Nmecha in pre-season action for Leeds
Both players have recent experience of playing in the Premier League, meaning Wrexham would be adding footballers who understand the demands of the top flight while still having experience of the Championship.
Nmecha emerges as a Wrexham target
According to reports, Wrexham are interested in convincing Leeds United striker Lukas Nmecha to return to the Championship.
The 27-year-old forward played regularly in the Premier League during the 2025/26 season after joining Leeds from Wolfsburg the previous summer.
Nmecha made 31 league appearances for Leeds and scored six goals during the campaign.
Although his numbers were not spectacular, his experience at the highest level could make him an attractive option for Wrexham as they attempt to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion.
The striker also has previous knowledge of Championship football.
During his career, Nmecha spent loan spells with Preston North End and Middlesbrough, giving him familiarity with the demands and physical nature of the second tier.
Wrexham would therefore be hoping that their ambitions and financial strength can persuade him to drop back into the Championship for another season.
Tuanzebe also on the radar
Wrexham are reportedly interested in another defender with Premier League experience in the shape of Axel Tuanzebe.
The former Manchester United player is currently a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Burnley.
Tuanzebe featured 14 times for Burnley in the Premier League last season, although his involvement was restricted partly because of injury problems.

Tuanzebe starred against England at the World Cup
The 28-year-old has endured an inconsistent career in recent years, with injuries regularly interrupting his progress.
Nevertheless, his experience remains considerable.
Tuanzebe came through the Manchester United academy and made 37 first-team appearances for the Red Devils before moving on to represent a number of other clubs.
His career has also included spells with Aston Villa, Napoli, Stoke City and Ipswich Town.
Wrexham are now reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing him to the Racecourse Ground as they seek another experienced defensive option.
Competition for Tuanzebe
Wrexham may face competition for Tuanzebe’s signature.
The defender has reportedly attracted interest from Hull City, who have recently returned to the Premier League and could offer him another opportunity to remain in the top flight.
However, Wrexham are understood to be in discussions with the player as they attempt to make another eye-catching signing.
Landing Tuanzebe would strengthen Parkinson’s defensive options while also giving the club another player with extensive Premier League experience.
For Wrexham, the attraction is obvious.
The club want to compete aggressively at the top of the Championship and believe adding players who have already performed at the highest level could help close the gap between themselves and the promotion contenders.
Another major defensive target
The reported pursuit of Nmecha and Tuanzebe comes shortly after Wrexham were linked with an ambitious move for Viking Stavanger centre-back Henrik Falchener.
The Norway international attracted widespread attention after featuring at this summer’s World Cup, and Wrexham have apparently already made significant efforts to secure his services.
Viking sporting director Erik Nevland recently confirmed that the Welsh club had made an enormous financial offer for the defender.
Wrexham have reportedly submitted an offer worth approximately £8.1 million when potential bonuses are included.
However, the Norwegian club have already rejected two bids.
Wrexham prepared to spend big
The scale of the proposed offer demonstrates just how far Wrexham are willing to go in their pursuit of promotion.
Nevland described the sums involved as extraordinary compared with anything Viking have previously received.
Falchener also acknowledged the size of the offers, explaining that the figures were substantial enough to command respect.
Despite those bids being rejected, Wrexham’s willingness to spend heavily underlines the seriousness of their Premier League ambitions.
The club are no longer simply looking to survive or establish themselves in the Championship.
After coming close to reaching the play-offs last season, Wrexham now want to take the next step.
Reynolds and McElhenney chasing Premier League dream
The continued investment from Reynolds and McElhenney has transformed Wrexham’s position in English football.
The club have moved rapidly through the divisions and are now targeting the Premier League.
Their recruitment strategy reflects that ambition.
The focus is increasingly on established players who can immediately improve the team rather than simply bringing in prospects for the future.
Nmecha and Tuanzebe would fit that philosophy perfectly.
Both have Premier League experience, while their previous Championship involvement means they understand the level of football Wrexham currently need to master.
For Parkinson, having players of that calibre available could provide his team with greater depth and experience during what is expected to be a demanding season.
A potential statement of intent
If Wrexham can complete deals for Nmecha and Tuanzebe, it would represent another major statement from the club.
The two players would bring experience at the highest level and potentially give Parkinson additional quality in both attack and defence.
Nmecha could provide another attacking option capable of handling the physical demands of the Championship, while Tuanzebe could add experience and versatility to the back line.
However, neither deal is guaranteed at this stage.
Wrexham will have to convince Nmecha that another season in the second tier is right for his career, while Tuanzebe may have other options following his departure from Burnley.
The club also continue to pursue Falchener, showing that their recruitment plans remain ambitious.
With the transfer window still open, Wrexham appear determined to continue strengthening their squad.
The ultimate objective remains clear: promotion to the Premier League.
After falling just short of the play-offs last season, Parkinson and the Wrexham hierarchy are leaving little to chance.
Whether Nmecha and Tuanzebe eventually arrive at the Racecourse Ground could prove significant, but the reported interest alone shows that Wrexham are thinking bigger than ever.
