Alan Brazil bites back at Rangers troll with loaded Celtic conspiracy theory before ‘nervous’ inquest
Irked Alan Brazil has put the blame on referees for why Rangers are top of the table as he resisted goading Gabby Agbonlahor’s digs about Celtic.
Philippe Clement’s side stumbled on Saturday when they fell to a surprise defeat to Motherwell – but Brendan Rodgers’ men were unable to capitalise and move to the Scottish Premiership summit after a 2-0 loss to Hearts. The victory for Steven Naismith’s outfit was riddles with controversy, leaving boss Rodgers raging following the full-time whistle after Yang was sent off and Tomoki Iwata was penalised for a handball following a VAR review.
And the shockwaves from the weekend fixture card could still be felt on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show as Aston Villa legend Agbonlahor looked to wind-up Celtic diehard Brazil with the Light Blues holding on to top dog status – even pitching some unlikely contenders for top spot going forward. But Brazil wasn’t having it as he pointed the finger of blame at the SFA.
England cap Agbonlahor quizzed: “What is going on Al? Rangers are top? I keep looking at the Scottish league and thinking Celtic will win that but they keep losing.” Brazil clapped back: “It’s called referees and officials, that is what it’s called.”
The Villa hero was undeterred adding: “What has happened Al to the Scottish league? You used to turn on the scores and see Celtic would win 6-0, 5-0, 4-0 – now it’s not like that. Those teams are catching up. Kilmarnock, Motherwell.”
Brazil looked to shut the chat down: “What are you talking about?” Agbonlahor responded: ‘You are nervous aren’t you?”
The under-fire Hoops supporter rounded off: “Well, there are two more Old Firms. That will settle it. But it is advantage Rangers, I have to say.”
