The Jets reportedly were denied for the Commanders’ coach.

This offseason, the New York Jets’ coaching staff has undergone a complete overhaul.

New York started making big moves by hiring Aaron Glenn as its new head coach. Glenn made it clear that the Jets job was his first choice and where he wanted to go. He helped transform the Detroit Lions’ defense and now faces a daunting task.

The Jets are coming off a disappointing 5-12 season and clearly intend to make significant changes. With Glenn in place, the team has been looking to fill his positions in recent weeks. The Jets have struck quickly and often, filling a few roles.

On Sunday, the Jets hired Charles London, the former quarterbacks coach of the Seattle Seahawks. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Jets attempted to interview Washington Commanders assistant quarterbacks coach David Blough for the position, but were turned down.

“In related news: The Commanders blocked assistant QBs coach David Blough from interviewing for the Jets job,” said Pelissero. “He’s staying in Washington.”

The Commanders clearly had a lot of success at quarterback in 2024 with rookie phenom Jayden Daniels. It’s unclear why the Commanders denied the request, but it’s possible they wanted to maintain continuity for Daniels in year two. However, that is only speculation.

Overall, the Jets found a solid candidate for the job in London, so no harm, no foul.
