Alan Niven stirs controversy regarding Axl Rose and Guns N’ Roses
According to former Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven, vocalist Axl Rose is presently paid half of the band’s revenue. Niven was speaking with Brando Weissle from Appetite For Distortion, a podcast with a Guns N’ Roses theme.
It’s a control issue with Axl. Here’s another little glimpse that is enlightening and contributes to establishing an accurate perspective. Axl now accounts for 50% of Guns N’ Roses’ revenue. 50%, okay? That is just unacceptable to me. He’s not Guns N’ Roses. They were five people. It was chemistry. It was a moment. However, Axl like to have complete control over everything. And see where that leads you. A dull solo album and a lousy collection of punk covers. And that’s it.
Niven is most likely referring to the final two Guns N’ Roses albums, the well-known and much awaited “Chinese Democracy” (2008) and the covers album “The Spaghetti Incident?” (1993). Niven, who supervised Guns N’ Roses’ rocky rise to stardom and managed the band from 1986 to 1991, has previously criticised Axl Rose. Alan Niven’s “Sound N’ Fury: Rock N’ Roll Storie” is currently available for pre-order and will be released on June 24.
