Alica Schmidt just shared a sneak glimpse at her tough training session for the forthcoming 2025 track season competitions. The athlete has competed in two events so far this season.

Schmidt started her season at the Nationals Hallenmeeting Erfurt Indoor 2025, where she ran the 800m on her home soil. She placed sixth with a timing of 2:05:57. Her second race was on February 4 at the Czech Indoor Gala in the Czech Republic, where she finished ninth in 2:06.23. A near-fall in the opening 100 metres of the race hampered her future circuits and led to her last-place finish.

Following two surprise outcomes, the German is focussing on improving her talents for forthcoming tournaments and has offered a glimpse of her training sessions on social media. She shared a video of her hard exercise, which included weighted sprints, on her Instagram story.

Schmidt finished her 2024 season by competing in the Paris Olympics, which did not go as planned. She participated in the women’s 4x100m relay and mixed 4x100m relay, however she and her team finished eighth in Heat 2 of both heats, preventing her from qualifying for the finals. Months later, Schmidt announced his decision to switch from the 400m to the 800m event.

Alica Schmidt expressed her views regarding her first 800 meters of the season.

Alica Schmidt’s first 800m race of the 2025 season at Erfurt did not go as expected, as she finished sixth. In her post-race vlog, the 26-year-old recalled her first experience running the 800m, conceding that the pace was a little too fast. However, she stated that she will work harder to improve her pace.

“The pre-meet is over, and I must admit that I was astonished by how quick the 800m pace was. It seemed quick today, but it’ll be OK tomorrow with adrenaline, as it usually is. Also, when I do a 250m pre-race, I always wonder how I’m meant to run this pace over 400m. I won’t be able to finish the race at this speed, but it’s OK throughout the race. Alica Schmidt stated, “I hope it’s the same over 800.” (6:42 onwards).

Alica Schmidt’s personal best for the 800m is 2:05.57.
