Arsenal injury, suspension news, and comeback dates for Man City match: Saka, Odegaard, White, Havertz, and Jesus latest
Arsenal aims to make a statement in the Premier League by hosting Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Mikel Arteta’s team has won nine points in their first four top-flight games, including a 3-0 home victory against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Arsenal defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0 away from home in their Champions League League Phase opener on Tuesday night. They now face Manchester City.
Sports Mole provides an update on Arsenal’s injury and suspension news for their upcoming match against Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Ben White
Status: Out.
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: unknown.
Ben White returned to the replacements’ bench against Nottingham Forest after a knock, but was left out of the matchday squad for Athletic’s midweek success due to an unclear ailment, and the defender is expected to be sidelined this weekend.
Martin Odegaard
Status: Major doubt.
Type of injury: Shoulder
Possible return date: September 21 (against Manchester City).
Martin Odegaard missed Athletic’s midweek game due to a shoulder injury sustained in the previous weekend’s triumph over Nottingham Forest. The Norwegian did not train on Monday and is in a race against time to be ready for Sunday.
Bukayo Saka
Status: Major doubt.
Type of injury: Hamstring.
Possible return date is September 21 (versus. Manchester City).
Bukayo Saka has missed Arsenal’s last three games in all competitions after suffering a hamstring injury against Leeds United. The attacker is also in a battle against time to be ready to face Manchester City.
Kai Havertz
Status: Out.
Type of injury: knee
Possible return date is November 22 (versus. Tottenham Hotspur).
Kai Havertz, who has yet to play for Arsenal this season, is “moving freely” again as he continues his recuperation from a knee injury, but it will be some weeks before the German forward returns to first-team action.
Gabriel Jesus
Status: Out.
Type of injury: ACL
Possible return date is December 30 (against. Aston Villa).
Gabriel Jesus is now performing individual ball work eight months after suffering an ACL injury, and Arteta has disclosed that the Brazilian is scheduled to return to full training in either December or January, so a return before the end of the year is not entirely ruled out.

Arsenal has no suspended players for this match.
