Arsenal “react to William Saliba’s interest from Real Madrid”
Arsenal has extended the contract of 23-year-old central defender William Saliba until June 2027.
He is said to be Real Madrid’s primary transfer target for the summer of 2019.
Real Madrid supposedly wants Arsenal defender William Saliba, but the Spanish club could have trouble negotiating a transfer.
Saliba reportedly has been named as Madrid’s primary transfer target for the next summer transfer window, according to French source Le10Sport.
Last year, Saliba extended his contract at the Emirates Stadium, bringing his current term until June 2027.
Having played in every one of their 38 Premier League games last season, Arsenal is well-positioned to handle any unwelcome attention about its star central defender.
The report in The Express states that the Gunners are unfazed by reports of interest in Saliba from Madrid.
According to reports, Saliba has been identified as Real Madrid’s primary summer transfer target, while Arsenal are allegedly hesitant to entertain any bids for the former Saint-Etienne star.
Reportedly, the London club has made it clear that they would not entertain any bids to sell him.
When Saliba was only 18 years old, he signed a contract with Arsenal from Saint-Etienne.
After that, he returned to France for three more seasons, spending time on loan with Saint-Etienne, Nice, and Marseille.
Since then, the 23-year-old has formed an impressive relationship with Gabriel, making 92 appearances for Arsenal’s first squad.
Last season, Arsenal had the greatest defensive record in the Premier League. They allowed just 29 goals while keeping 18 clean sheets.
