Attacking ace ‘Keen’ is expected to sign with the Rangers before the final negotiations fall through

Despite reaching an agreement with Southampton, Rangers were unable to secure a last-minute deal to sign Samuel Edozie, according to The Athletic.

When faced with the 11 p.m. deadline, the outlet stated in a belated update on their website on August 30 that terms could not be finalised with the winger himself.

On August 30, The Scottish Sun said on their website that although the Englishman was “keen” about the Ibrox switch, negotiations broke down too soon.

On the last day, Rangers did sign Nedim Bajrami to a permanent contract and Neraysho Kasanwirjo to a loan.

Rangers lose out on the Nedim Bajrami trade.

Deadline for Transfers Day ended badly, as did the entire summer, despite being perhaps a slight improvement over the window overall.

After Ben Davies was loaned to Birmingham, Philippe Clement was able to bring in a defensive replacement. Bajrami, who was the Gers’ top priority going into the final day, is now the team’s new number 10 option [Daily Record, 29 August].

It’s also important to recognise how difficult it would have been for Todd Cantwell to leave for Blackburn, and how much of a mess it would have been if he had stayed—possibly needing a payoff to end his contract [PLZ Soccer, 26 August].

Rangers manager Philippe Clement missed out on Samuel Edozie at the death

However, given that there appeared to be a strong possibility of a deal for Edozie, 21, in the closing hours, it is only unfortunate that the club was unable to move forward with it.

It is unclear why an agreement couldn’t be reached if terms had been agreed upon with the Premier League team and the wide player was eager to move. It’s possible that a deal sheet was submitted to request an additional two hours for completion after 11pm.

Stevie Clifford tells the Rangers man that he has made “Rod for his own back” after admitting to the transfer

Stevie Clifford claims that Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, has made a “rod for his own back” by revealing his most recent transfer.

With Todd Cantwell and Scott Wright likely to follow Ben Davies out the Ibrox exit door in the coming days, the Light Blues are looking to reduce their wage bill between now and the end of August [Sky Sports, 28 August].

After the Gers’ victory over Ross County the previous game, Clement said he anticipated more inbounds than outbounds this week. Four Lads host Clifford thinks that could come back to haunt him.

On August 28, he made the following statement on the Rangers Review YouTube channel: “The manager has made a little bit of a rod for his own back on Saturday.”

“He predicted a higher number of arrivals than departures. With three of them possibly leaving the house, when will the remaining four arrive?

People tend to take things very literally, so if he was referring to additional arrivals for the first team that day, would there only be one? Has he conveyed his point incorrectly?

“The issue is that, if we’ve all read or heard that, four are going to come in if he’s getting rid of three, isn’t that what he said, isn’t it?”

Before the Ibrox transfer deadline, are Rangers in the process of signing any new players?

Clifford suggests that Clement’s remarks following the victory over Ross County have raised expectations, and as a result, supporters will now anticipate a wave of new arrivals in Glasgow before the window closes.

It would be surprising to see more than a few faces in the squad before the match against Celtic, much less four new players, even though there is still time for a few more additions to be made in the next days.

Though it’s possible that some of the interpretations of Clement’s remarks have been misconstrued, the Belgian appeared fairly certain that there would be more movement into the club than out.

The Light Blues might have extra money to spend in the upcoming days now that it looks like they will be able to deduct a few large salaries from their bill. However, it’s unclear what kind of money Clement will have to work with until August 30.

“Strange”: Pundit suggests Rangers speak with the agent to work out terms so the ace can play as soon as possible

Derek Ferguson called it “strange” that the Rangers aren’t in negotiations with Ianis Hagi’s agent to change the terms of his contract so he can play.

The attacker is playing for the B Team even though he has only played 99 senior games because of a clause in his contract that would increase his pay by £6,000 if he played more games [Daily Record, 13 August].

With no imminent departure and Hagi’s desire to stay, Philippe Clement has stated he has no plans for the Romanian and that he is free to leave [Football Scotland, 19 August]. Ferguson wants everyone to get down and decide how Hagi can help.

In an exclusive interview with Ibrox News, he said, “I just don’t understand why they can’t sit down and work things out with Hagi’s advisers or his agent, whoever it is that handles it, and the manager.

“If there’s a payment delay, or if they can make a small reduction in it.” I simply find it strange.

Todd Cantwell Rangers

Todd Cantwell is also unavailable after asking to leave Rangers

Ianis Hagi has been told by Philippe Clement that he can leave Rangers.

Although Hagi is eager to stay with the team, Philippe Clement has told him he can leave [Sky Sports, August 12]. The Belgian has had trouble bringing in new players.

If the club is attempting so hard to avoid it, it is understandable why they gave the former Alaves loanee a new contract with such a clause in December 2022.

It doesn’t appear to be in the player’s or the club’s best interests for him to stay in the B Team alone unless a move abroad is imminent.

It was believed that Rapid Bucharest was interested in signing him [Fanatik, August 20]. However, with the deadline approaching and he hasn’t left, it may only be possible to resolve the issue internally.

Ianis Hagi’s massive Rangers transfer request is accepted, and Rapid is getting ready to spend big

Rapid’s owners are willing to pay the unwanted Gers star the second-highest salary in the Romanian top division in order to return him home.

Rangers: Ibrox’s Most Recent News

Although the player will have to accept a significant pay cut from his current Govan salary, Rapid Bucharest is reportedly trying to entice Ianis Hagi to join the team by making him their top earner.

Philippe Clement, who is eager to move the Romanian international before the August 30 transfer deadline, has kept Hagi out of the starting lineup despite the fact that he spent the entire previous season on loan with Alaves in La Liga. The former star of Fiorentina has been training with the Light Blues B team and has made appearances for them in the early going of the current season.

Rapid and Universitatea Craiova, two Liga I rivals, have both expressed interest in the 25-year-old. Now, the former has disclosed the amount they are prepared to pay the inventive midfielder. Romanian publication Spotmedia reports that Hagi has been offered a salary of €30,000 (£24,400) per month by Dan Sucu, the majority shareholder of Rapid, which comes to €360,000 (£304,860) annually. With contractual bonuses, that amount could rise to an annual salary of €500,000 (£423,400). According to the report, this would make Alex Mitrita of Universitatea Craiova, who is said to make €600,000 a year, the second highest paid player in Romania and the highest paid player for the Rangers.

Hagi would have to accept a substantial pay decrease from his current Rangers contract if he were to accept the move. The playmaker, whose contract has two years left on it, reportedly earns €1.3 million ($1.1 million) annually. Mateusz Bogusz to Celtic transfer update

Now that Matt O’Riley is out of contract, Celtic is looking to replace him, and they plan to reopen negotiations with LAFC to acquire Mateusz Bogusz.

The talks are expected to pick up steam after LAFC’s participation in this Sunday’s League Cup final versus Columbus Crew. Celtic has decided to postpone negotiations for the player, who is estimated to be worth £8 million, until after this game.

This action follows Matt O’Riley’s transfer to Brighton, where Celtic paid a record-breaking transfer fee. With O’Riley leaving Celtic on a five-year contract to join the Premier League, Celtic’s midfield will be drastically altered, calling for quick and efficient additions.

In order to make up for O’Riley’s departure, Celtics manager Brendan Rodgers has stated that the team will need to sign two midfield players before the transfer window closes in six days.

Fans of the Celtics are now excitedly awaiting the announcement of O’Riley’s replacement, and Bogusz is just one of the many names being mentioned.

‘They are’: Chris Sutton blasts Celtic after learning certain things from the team on Friday night

Chris Sutton never holds back when voicing his opinions about Celtic, and he voiced his thoughts about the most recent events at Parkhead on Friday night.

Sutton, a former forward for Celtic, is still a devoted Bhoys fan and frequently shows a keen interest in anything green and white in Scotland.

Naturally, Sutton’s opinions are frequently a mix of positive and negative.

And it’s safe to say that Sutton is not overly impressed with his former club after learning the most recent transfer news that came from Celtic Park on Friday night.

When Matt O’Riley is sold by Celtic to Brighton, Chris Sutton responds.

As everyone is aware, on Friday night, reports verified that Matt O’Riley, a midfield player for Celtic, would be sold to Brighton for approximately £25 million.

Sutton shared his opinions on X, acknowledging that although he understands the reasoning, he is still disappointed with Celtic’s overall lacklustre performance this season.

Celtic has largely performed well over the summer to retain the majority of their team, even adding Adam Idah back on a long-term basis.

But O’Riley’s departure might let loose a storm of suitors, as Man City is reportedly interested in Kyogo Furuhashi as a possible Julian Alvarez replacement.

The O’Riley transfer was incessant.

At the end of the day, Celtic’s only real defence against Premier League vultures is to demand a hefty fee.

To be fair to Celtic, they paid a club record for Matt O’Riley, which should enable them to search the market for a suitable replacement.

Who exactly that will be is still unknown.

Now that the transfer window is down to just one week, Brendan Rodgers and Celtic need to focus hard on signing players and hope that something clicks.

Brendan Rodgers blames Rangers for the lockout of away fans and says it has nothing to do with Celtic

He said that Rangers were to blame for the standoff and that it had nothing to do with Celtic.

Latest “depressing” news about the Old Firm lockout for away fans | Hotline Live

Brendan Rodgers really got into the Old Firm away fan lockout row and said it has NOTHING to do with Celtic.

The Hoops broke their promise to let Rangers fans into Parkhead for the first derby of the season on September 1 after finishing work to make sure the safety of away fans. There were no guarantees, though, that the same work would be done at Ibrox in time for the return match on January 2, so they took back the allocation for next month’s match.

Now Rodgers has put ALL the blame on Gers because he said the deal between the two clubs hadn’t been kept and the Celts had to go back to letting only home fans watch. He said it wasn’t “good faith” to let Rangers fans in, but it turned out that the Bhoys couldn’t get into Ibrox for the New Year’s game.

“The club’s job is to protect the fans, and if that promise isn’t kept for the second game, I think it makes sense that you wouldn’t do the same.” Celtic have done their part.

“This has nothing to do with Celtic.” Nothing. It has nothing to do with Celtic when you think about how this all began. Celtic is brought into this because of the Celtic-Rangers rivalry. It’s not between Celtic and Rangers; it’s between Rangers.

“When Celtic is asked to sign this agreement and make this stadium safe, we spend a lot of money on it and got it done months ago.” It hasn’t been agreed upon by either side, so it’s not hard, it hasn’t been done. No matter how you say “good faith,” it’s still an agreement between the two of them, so it’s not over yet.

When January comes around, our own fans can’t get in, but Rangers fans can. That’s not good faith. It’s not honest. The agreement hasn’t been upheld, and Celtic has every right to stand up for their fans and their club. Fans of Rangers will miss this game, and fans of Celtic will miss the return game.

“Let’s hope that after that, we can find a way to get the supporters in.”

Rangers take action to end the Celtics fan lockout after submitting an Ibrox NETS application to Glasgow City Council

After Hoops decided not to allow early season fan returns, the Gers have taken the ball and run with it.

It has come to light that Rangers HAVE moved to guarantee the conclusion of the Old Firm away fan lockout for this season.

Following a complete ban last season, an agreement with Celtic and the SPFL was reached to reintroduce limited away allocations. Fans were scheduled to return for a meeting between the two teams. But the Hoops cancelled last week, stating they received no assurances that the necessary work to guarantee the security of visiting fans would be finished in time for their trip to Ibrox on January 2.

Consequently, the champions decided not to accept the scheduled away allocation for their match against Celtic Park on September 1. The final two derbies of the 2024–2025 campaign, provided agreed safety measures were in place, were still up for grabs in the talks with the SPFL. To start the process, the gers have now submitted paperwork to Glasgow City Council.

The proposal is to install safety netting in the Ibrox cornice, between the Govan and Broomloan stands. The paper stated: “24/01651/BW | Installation of demountable safety netting system to the corner of the Broomloan and Govan stands (between home and away support) for high risk fixtures.”

Even though Celtic Park is being worked on in time for the match next month, it won’t be used because of the city’s lack of movement up until this point. And that prompted a biting rebuke from Brendan Rodgers, the head coach of the Hoppers, who stated last week that Rangers was solely to blame.

“The club’s job is to protect the support, and I think it’s only logical that you wouldn’t reciprocate come the second fixture,” he stated. Celtic has fulfilled their role.

This has nothing to do with Celtic. Nothing. It has nothing to do with Celtic when you think back to the beginning of this. This is where Celtic is brought in as a Celtic-Rangers issue. This is a Rangers issue, not a Celtics-Rangers issue.

The application to Glasgow City Council

“Celtic, we invest money in that, we carry out the necessary work, and we began months ago when they requested this agreement and the safety of this stadium. It’s not complicated; neither party has agreed to it, so it hasn’t been completed. Regardless of how you phrase it, good faith remains a mutual agreement, so it remains unfinished.

“If we let Rangers supporters in and by January our own supporters are unable to enter, that is not a great faith move. It’s not sincere. As a result, the agreement hasn’t been upheld, and Celtic must legitimately defend their fans and team. Regretfully, Celtic fans will be missing this game and the rematch for Rangers supporters.”

The good news for Rangers fans is that the steel needed for the Copland Road stand has finally arrived, meaning they may return to Ibrox for a match next month. That implies that their game against Ross County this coming week at Hampden may be their last at their makeshift stadium
