BREAKING!!! Anthony Elanga: Newcastle United agree on £52 million transfer fee to sign Nottingham Forest forward this summer
Anthony Elanga has finished his Newcastle physical ahead of completing a £52 million transfer; the Nottingham Forest winger is reported to be thrilled to play for a team in the Champions League.
Anthony Elanga completed his Newcastle physical on Wednesday after agreeing to a £52 million fee with Nottingham Forest.
The winger arrived at Newcastle’s private airport on Tuesday evening to meet with his new team and begin medical testing.
Newcastle and Nottingham Forest have agreed on a transaction that could be worth up to £55 million.
They will make a guaranteed initial payment of £52 million, with the possibility of an additional £3 million in performance-based bonuses.
Elanga scored six goals and assisted 11 times in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest last season, helping the club secure European status for the upcoming season.
Newcastle will sign Elanga as their second winger this summer, following the free acquisition of Antonio Cordero from Malaga. Cordero, an 18-year-old Spanish player, will be sent out.

Newcastle made a bid for Elanga late last week, and discussions have subsequently focused on the payment structure.
Elanga is said to be delighted about the opportunity to play for a Champions League club.
Newcastle wants to conclude a good window.
Sky Sports News’ Keith Downie:
“On Monday, it was reported that Callum Wilson would be leaving, leaving Alexander Isak as the acknowledged No. 9. Newcastle will be trying to add another player in that position.
“We’ve been reporting for a time that Newcastle are in talks with Burnley about goalkeeper James Trafford.
“He is the goalkeeper they are looking for, followed by a right-sided defender and a striker to join Isak.” If Newcastle can accomplish this, it will be a good window for them.”
Meanwhile, Leeds are close to striking a deal with Newcastle for Sean Longstaff.
The recently promoted team has launched a £12 million bid for the 27-year-old midfielder. If this arrangement is accepted, Leeds will pay an initial £10 million plus £2 million in add-ons.
It is not Leeds’ first bid for the player, and they are said to be unwilling to enhance it significantly.
Longstaff, an academy graduate whose sale would be pure profit for Newcastle in terms of PSR, is already in the penultimate year of his contract.
Newcastle will feel like the perfect step up for a goal-oriented Elanga.

Sky Sports’ William Bitibiri:
“I spent time studying Anthony Elanga’s pre-season preparations for last season, and it was evident that ambition was seeping out of him, like perspiration from his brow after being put through his paces by his personal strength and conditioning coach, Tom Joyce.
“It was during those sessions that he prepared for his most productive season, with 18 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions.” Elanga’s final ball brought a new dimension to his game.
“Ambitions, while admitting that they played an important role in his development during and after his time at Manchester United, were kept private, but the desire to improve on the previous year was loud.

“In many ways, it was Elanga’s second breakout. The 23-year-old personified Nottingham Forest’s counter-attacking danger, hammering opponents as the club narrowly lost out on Champions League status.
“Elanga added a new dimension to his game at the City Ground, returning with 11 league assists, up from nine the previous season. He’ll be looking to improve this area as he prepares to join his Swedish compatriot and main marksman, Alexander Isak, at St James’ Park, where he’ll be managed by Eddie Howe, of whom he’s always admired.
“His old club Manchester United may or may not have anticipated the influence Elanga would have, but they may regret allowing the Carrington-born star leave in 2023. However, Elanga’s decision to leave Old Trafford is unlikely to be one he regrets as he prepares for Champions League action at Newcastle.”
Wilson plans to leave Newcastle

Wilson plans to leave Newcastle.
Newcastle revealed on Monday that Callum Wilson will depart the club this summer.
The 33-year-old joined the Magpies from Bournemouth in a deal costing just over £19 million in 2020, and he went on to make 130 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 49 goals.
Wilson told the official club website in his formal parting statement to the Magpies: “It’s time to say goodbye after an incredible few years in the Toon.
“Thanks for everything. We remained strong together through highs and lows to assist the club reach new heights.
“I am extremely delighted to have worn the classic number 9 shirt and added a little history to it. Scoring at the Gallowgate End truly is as unique as they claim.
“All good things must come to an end, but Newcastle United will always hold a special place in my and my family’s hearts.” Thank you for these memories.”
Aina signs a new Forest agreement.
Forest’s Ola Aina has signed a new three-year contract that will keep him at the club until summer 2028.
Aina moved to Forest on a free transfer from Torino in 2023.
“I’m over the moon, and I can’t wait to continue this journey with the club,” the Nigeria international said on the club’s website.
“It has always felt like home since I joined, and I am glad to be here. Now my attention is on properly preparing for the new season and returning to hard work.
