Bruno Guimaraes closes the Alexander Isak affair with a clear Newcastle United message
Newcastle United’s latest news: Bruno Guimaraes has spoken on Alexander Isak’s departure from Newcastle United.
Bruno Guimaraes has commented on Alexander Isak’s contentious move from Newcastle United to Liverpool this summer. Isak was sold on deadline day for a British record fee, despite spending the summer training away from his teammates.
Isak did not appear in Newcastle United’s first three Premier League games this season, nor did he play in any pre-season friendlies. After missing their tour to the Far East, Isak was kept out of first-team action as he sought a move to Anfield.

Finally, the Swedish international got his dream move when the Magpies replaced him and the already departed Callum Wilson with Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade in the last week of the transfer window. Wissa is yet to play for the Magpies after being injured on international service, while Woltemade scored his first goal against Wolves on Saturday.

Losing a vital player like Isak is always upsetting for any club, especially one on the rise with ambitious goals like Newcastle United. However, it was the way in which he left that caused much of the pain on Tyneside among the fan base.
Eddie Howe spent the bulk of the summer fielding questions about Isak and, right up until the deadline, gave the 25-year-old a way back into the squad. For much of the summer, Newcastle United’s only comment on Isak came from Howe, but team captain Bruno Guimaraes has finally commented about his departure from the club.
“I believe football is business. “I think the club made a decision, and he’s gone,” Guimaraes remarked.

“I wish him all the best and I’m grateful for everything we achieved together, but it’s not time to look at the past, it’s time to look to the future, to look at the game [v Barcelona], and we are very satisfied.”
Newcastle United’s next Champions League opponent is Barcelona, as the club seeks to balance the demands of European and domestic competition. They opened their Premier League account with a win over Wolves on Saturday, and while all attention will now go to on-field matters, the club will be determined to move on from the summer and keep all of its important players in future windows.

When asked how they can do it, Guimaraes said, “it’s a good question. You have financial fair play, and I’m not sure if this has an impact on things because I’m not under the table to observe what was going on. Football is a business.
“As players, we don’t want to lose our finest players if we want to succeed. We have to develop our squad, and I believe we did it very well this summer; we want to go again.”
