Chelsea are not done with Jamie Gittens move, but they face a clear £80 million problem
Chelsea recruited Jamie Gittens this summer, but the Blues are believed to still be exploring adding another left-sided attacker to Enzo Maresca’s excellent roster.
Chelsea have not ruled out adding another attacking option to their roster before the summer transfer market ends on September 1, football.london reports.
This summer, the Blues have already signed Liam Delap, Kendry Paez, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Estevao Willian as the club’s sports directors want to provide Enzo Maresca with all of the weapons he needs to fight for more major accolades in his second season at Stamford Bridge. However, Paez is scheduled to move on loan in the coming weeks, and Estevao is expected to take some time to adjust to life in England.
Noni Madueke has almost completed a £52 million deal to Arsenal, while Jadon Sancho’s loan term has ended and Christopher Nkunku is still on the transfer list. Nicolas Jackson has also been linked with a departure from Chelsea this summer, while Marc Guiu is expected to leave on loan before the window closes.
With some players having either departed or anticipated to leave in the near future, the west Londoners are still looking to add another offensive option this summer. Chelsea would most likely prefer a left-sided attacking player, with Alejandro Garnacho and Morgan Rogers also available.
Garnacho surfaced as a transfer target for Chelsea in the January window, but the club decided not to make any moves for a left winger midway through the season. The Argentina international is thought to be looking for a move away from Manchester United this summer, and Chelsea is keeping a careful eye on his position.
Meanwhile, Rogers is another Blues target. Aston Villa do not want to sell the 22-year-old attacker, who scored eight goals and provided 11 assists for Unai Emery’s side in the Premier League last season, but are reportedly willing to do business if a fee of at least £80 million is offered as they seek to strengthen their PSR position.
Chelsea, on the other hand, is unlikely to do business at such an exorbitant price, so Villa may well keep Rogers after the summer transfer window. In any case, if Chelsea are unable to recruit a left-sided attacker by September 1, Tyrique George demonstrated last season that he is more than capable of adding a threat to Maresca’s assault.
Chelsea are the FIFA Club World Cup champions. To commemorate the occasion, the club has released a new range of t-shirts, hoodies, and more, including the 2025/26 Home Shirt with ‘World Champions 25’ printing.
