Clement remained silent, but the Rangers setback is unlikely to derail the US billionaire’s Ibrox bid

It appears that Ben Davies will end his two unhappy seasons as Rangers’ manager.

However, Philippe Clement is unable to both confirm and deny it.

Before the weekend, there were rumours circulating that Birmingham City was interested in 29-year-old defender Ben Davies, who might go on a season-long loan.

Given that Davies left Liverpool for Ibrox in the summer of 2022 in a huge £4 million deal, the Rangers will be happy to have this high earner off the payroll.

If Birmingham is to pay Davies’s salary, Rangers will save £27k a week, or £1.4 million a year, according to Salary Sport – and it’s not like they can’t afford them.

The League One team is supported by billions of US dollars after Tom Wagner, a hedge fund manager, and other prominent NFL players acquired the team.

Rangers would be better off using the money that would otherwise be considered chump change to the Blues’ American backers elsewhere on the team.

However, following Leon Balogun’s injury during the crushing victory over Ross County, Philippe Clement has been questioned about whether Davies’ departure might be slowed down.

Against Celtic, will Leon Balogun be available?

Just after rejoining the team to play against Ross County, Rangers defender Leon Balogun was substituted off the pitch.

Just before halftime, Mohamed Diomande replaced Pulling up during the match, leaving Gers supporters fearing the worst.

After the convincing 6-0 victory over Ross County, Philippe Clement was questioned regarding Leon Balogun’s medical condition.

Additionally, the Rangers manager is optimistic that the 36-year-old centre back will be fit for the team’s trip to Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership the following weekend.

According to Clement, “Leon took a knock and hurt his neck,” Sky Sports reported. That one wasn’t fortunate.

“I wanted to get him game rhythm because last week he missed and he was good in the game.”

“It won’t be a big deal next week, so I think he’ll be okay in a few days; his neck is just completely blocked right now.”

Ben Davies’ future is updated by the Rangers manager

Following the injury, Ben Davies’ future was also questioned of Gers manager Paul Clement.

Prior to welcoming the Staggies, the Rangers manager had informed reporters that he would not be providing any details.

Speaking following the game, Clement maintained that he would not divulge any information and that he would not be aware of the transfer’s approval until it actually was.

Rejecting the notion that Leon Balogun’s injury could prevent Davies from leaving, Clement was not in the mood to elaborate.

Clement remarked, “I’m not sure if there’s an agreement between the two clubs and Ben.”

“I’ll find out about that when the time is appropriate. This message hasn’t reached me yet.

Additionally, Philippe Clement has made it plain that Rangers will need to sign a replacement if Ben Davies decides to leave the team this summer.

Almería reportedly rejected a bid from the Gers for Brazilian defender Kaiky, despite the center-back’s desire to play for the first team in Spain.

In the weekend’s victory over Tenerife, Kaiky made his Almería debut. As the transfer window approaches its conclusion, the situation is still active.

The manager of Rangers, Philippe Clement, has acknowledged that he anticipates being “busy” in the upcoming days due to the enthusiasm of Gers supporters for a strengthened roster.

Pundit suggests Rangers sign a “Creative” player before Deadline Day, akin to Jan

Barry Ferguson, a Rangers legend, believes that in order to secure their targets in the final days of the transfer window, the team may need to be “creative.”

Ferguson notes that Philippe Clement will be irritated by his inability to move players who are not in his plans, which will obstruct the way for new hires, in his column in the Daily Record [August 23].

But he says that new players might need to be brought in on pay-later contracts, much like the Gers did with Mohamed Diomande, who they secured on a loan-to-buy deal that was paid this summer.

“We already know that until players like Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi depart, Clement’s intentions to sign new players are on hold. During his press conference last week, the manager made this statement. That will probably irritate him, I can imagine,” Ferguson said.

However, it is evident that he was aware of this possibility when he signed his contract. The team may need to think outside the box in the coming week, much like when they signed Mohamed Diomande to a loan with a purchase obligation in January.

In any case, Rangers need fresh faces.

If you include the purchase agreement on January signing Diomande, Rangers may have signed eight players thus far this summer, but everyone who is anybody knows that more are needed.

Most importantly, Clement understands that his current team is insufficient to compete with Celtic on four fronts this season.

If the Light Blues are unwilling to let go of players like Cantwell and Hagi, who are considered members of the “bomb squad,” supporters will genuinely hope that the team still has some options.

The Belgian may be forced to try to reintegrate the pair, or players like Scott Wright who have been linked to EFL teams, if they are unable to move them. However, this may be more difficult said than done for both team morale and budgetary reasons.

This is a big week for the Gers. Although they had a period of good recruitment this summer, after a slow start to the season, things have somewhat stagnated.

Why is Lawrence Shankland having such a bad start to the season? The Hearts striker has been linked to Rangers

Could the captain of Tynecastle be sick with Scotland-itis?

Not having any goals and, what’s worse, looking a little helpless. Some Hearts fans are getting worried about their star striker.

“What’s Eating Lawrence Shankland?” could be the name of the next play at Tynecastle. This comes after the successful run of “Hearts Story” at the stadium earlier this month as part of the Fringe festival.

The forward had scored four goals by this time last year. He had, of course, played two more games, both for Hearts and against Rosenborg in Conference League qualifying games.

But there was no doubt that he had his running shoes on already. At times, he didn’t score, but he kept them up for the most part, becoming the first Hearts striker in over 35 years to score 30 goals in a season.

He scored 31 goals for his team and 2 for his country in the end. His last goal, though, was a smart header with his back turned against Finland in May in a friendly before Euro 2024. He hasn’t felt that good since.

His standards are so high that it’s not a surprise that some people want to know what’s going on. People in Plzen’s pubs and clubs will be asking this question as Shankland and Hearts try to get their seasons off to a good start in the first leg of what looks like an awkward Europa League play-off match on Thursday night. Hearts is not a one-man show, but Shankland must score again for them to have a chance against Viktoria Plzen.

At least, that’s how it has looked so far this season. People keep saying that Shankland looks out of shape, too heavy, and maybe even less interested. Some people are wondering if the captain had already lost his mind because of all the transfer rumours last season. This summer, Rangers are once again linked to him in a big way.

Not that there aren’t any goals, but that there aren’t any chances to score them. Only one goal has been scored by Hearts this season, and it was a header from corner back Frankie Kent.

Shankland didn’t play against Falkirk last Saturday, and Hearts missed several chances to score first before Falkirk settled down and pulled off a surprise. If Shankland had been on the pitch, he could have taken one of these chances. He was on the pitch when Yutaro Oda hit the ball straight at Jon McCracken. We probably wouldn’t be talking about this right now if he were Oda.

No one thinks for a second that he has lost his touch on the goal. He’s had frustrating times in the past and then a good patch. In fact, he didn’t score for eight games after converting a penalty against PAOK this time last year before going on a crazy run of form that led to lots of goals.

In March, he went five games without scoring, including one in which he missed a great chance to tie Scotland and the Netherlands in Amsterdam. This raised more doubts about his worth.

Some people thought that his confidence would be hurt. After all, this was his big chance to show Steve Clarke that he could do it on the biggest stages. He scored again three games later against Livingston, and by the end of the domestic season, he had scored in all three of his last games.

Then the Euros came along. Some people think Shanklin’s slow start to this season is because he is from Scotland. He not only has the same hangover as many of the other people who were on that failed mission, but he was also extra annoyed that he only got to play for a few minutes.

Clarke will pick his team for the games against Poland and Portugal next week. At least Shankland knows he will play, but it’s still too early to start scoring again.

Clement says he’s “in love with Rangers” as he signs a new contract

On the eve of the new Scottish Premiership season, Philippe Clement declared that he had “fallen in love” with Rangers after learning that the manager had extended his contract at Ibrox until 2028.

Following the dismissal of Michael Beale in October, the 50-year-old Belgian took over as manager of Rangers. His arrival resulted in a revival of the team’s performance, which included a Scottish League Cup victory and a brief return to title contention before Celtic, the team’s bitter rivals in Glasgow, won the game in the closing minutes.

However, the Rangers board felt that was enough development to extend Clement’s contract, which was set to expire in 2027.

“My relationship with the board is really open and transparent,” Clement said on Friday to the Rangers website. “You have sensed our passion and desire to improve the club at every meeting we’ve had, and I share that feeling.

“The team, the supporters, the stadium, and the city have all captured my heart. We all really agree that improving and strengthening the club in every area is our goal, and I see a tonne of potential for it.”

With the likes of James Tavernier and Todd Cantwell both expected to depart during the current transfer window, as well as the departure of the seasoned Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, and Connor Goldson from Ibrox, Clement’s new contract comes as he oversees a major overhaul of the Rangers roster.

“Towards the end of May, Philippe and I had a very in-depth conversation,” Gers chairman John Bennett stated.

“It was obvious that we wanted to rebuild the Rangers men’s first team with both short- and long-term goals in mind.

“At that meeting we shook hands on this new contract and the board is delighted that the formalities have been concluded.”

Rangers will take on Edinburgh club Hearts on the road on Saturday to start the new Premiership season.

Rangers can’t even be honest with their own fans, so explain to me why Celtic should believe them – Chris Sutton

Record Sport’s Celtic voice has something to say about the mess with the away tickets.

The latest fight between Celtic and Rangers over away tickets has led to the usual game of pointing fingers and blaming.

After getting our hopes up that things would get back to normal, it’s a shame that we’re back in this mess again. But now we have to deal with another group of away fans being turned away at Celtic Park next month and again at Ibrox in the new year. Even though it’s not perfect, I understand where Celtic are coming from with this.

Why should Rangers believe them when they say bad things about Celtic fans if they can’t be honest with their own fans? It looks like the deal that was made in March of last year was based on the idea that some safety measures would be put in place after problems in the past. Celtic kept their end of the deal by getting the building permits and getting the work done before the first derby. What about the Rangers? I understand that the next game is still a long way off and that there is time to fix things.

But unless the plans are set in stone, how can Celtic be sure that they will be carried out? In the end, the Rangers board can’t even tell their own fans if they will be back at Ibrox after that long. They would be telling the Celtic board, “Trust us, everything will be fine on the night.” I don’t believe that.

Everyone knows how I feel about all of this. And I’d like to go back to the old ways of allocating seats because the fans make the event so exciting. In the past few years, it’s taken a hit, and we shouldn’t be hurting the product when Scottish football is already struggling for attention.

The only thing that’s left is to hope that Rangers get the job done. That way, at least we can start moving forward again. While this is going on, Celtic fans are enjoying the chaos at Ibrox, with Dynamo Kyiv winning the Champions League and other problems. They are also spending a lot of money to get Adam Idah back and bragging about how much money they have.

Rangers are in a tough spot right now, and things could go badly for Philippe Clement very quickly. But that doesn’t mean Celtic can give up on their rivals or even just think they’re not good enough. That means Brendan Rodgers’ team will have to be at their best every week. Rangers should still be strong enough to be better than every other team in Scotland.

To be fair, it did look that way in the first few games and at the end of last season. The return of Idah is also a big plus. Some fans are upset about the £9.5m fee, even though they told the Parkhead board all summer to spend more money.

In the big picture, I don’t think it’s a lot of money. When you think about deals made by people like me, Neil Lennon, and John Hartson in 2000, they would be worth about £13m now that prices have gone up. If you look at how much football costs these days, I’d cost about £150m!

Right now, the money that was paid for Idah is just the market. Blackburn Rovers is getting up to £11 million from Ipswich Town for Sammie Szmodics, who plays for Idah’s Ireland team. Idah is younger and has more potential. You would think it would do well with a manager like Rodgers, who is known for helping players grow.

You only need to look at how much Matt O’Riley has grown while he has been his coach. It’s clear that Idah is happy at Celtic. He feels more at home there than at Norwich City. I was pleasantly surprised by how well he played last season, and I could see the changes I was telling him to make when he was with the Canaries.

Adam Idah

I was worried that he wasn’t using his physical skills, but he found the answers. He played a great game as a centre forward in the last season’s decider against Kilmarnock. It was one of the best I’d seen in a long time.

Kilmarnock is a big, strong, well-equipped team led by Derek McInnes. Still, Idah was very mean to them. Even though he always moved and played well as a hold-up, I thought he improved a lot under Rodgers, especially in the air.

Look at how hard he hit the header against Motherwell. In the summer, he scored another great goal with his head for Ireland. Rodgers has helped him get better at this part of his game, and he will keep getting better because there is still room to grow.

Most of the talk is about who will be the main striker, but I don’t care. Each week, it will be different, and Idah’s arrival makes things easier for Kyogo. Fans held their breath when he went down at Easter Road last Sunday because they knew he had a problem with his shoulder. It looks like he’ll be having a bit of a hard time on Sunday.

Though I still believe Rodgers needs one more striker, at least Kyogo isn’t as scary as he used to be. O’Riley is not like that at all. Now Celtic is back to where they were at the end of the season, but they will be worse off if O’Hair leaves.

Fans are right to want the team to keep going and beat Rangers in the process so they can be stronger in the Champions League. That means keeping O’Riley and getting stronger in the areas that everyone knows need it.

As long as Celtic kept O’Riley on loan as long as possible, it’s not their fault. That’s what Norwich did with Idah. Celtic don’t need the money like their rivals do, and keeping him for another season would be a big sign that they want to win.

Huge Gers allude to Clement’s approved £3 million playmaker comeback

Rangers manager Philippe Clement

Rangers lack both quality players and attacking options, which makes Ianis Hagi’s absence all the more strange.

This summer, Philippe Clement discussed the playmaker from Romania, stating that there had been discussions prior to the European Championships suggesting that all parties had decided to part ways.

With the erratic talent playing for the B team, the 25-year-old is rumoured to have changed his mind.

Has the most significant hint yet suggested that Ianis Hagi might be returning to the Rangers?

The Rangers B team’s selection may be a sign that Ianis Hagi will be back.

The £3 million acquisition has experienced a turbulent tenure at Ibrox.

His performance against Braga earned him almost instant cult status, and the following season he was instrumental in winning the Scottish Premiership.

Since then, he has played fewer games due to injury, and his loan move to Deportivo Alaves didn’t quite work out.

Hagi was obviously eager to make up lost time when he signed his contract extension, which the Scottish press reported to be until 2026:

The club’s rich history challenges you daily to improve both as a player and as a person, both on and off the pitch.

“Although I like to think I’ve made a positive impact and given my fans some truly memorable moments, I still feel like I haven’t accomplished everything I set out to do. I have so much more to share and give to the fans and this incredible group of Rangers players; I’m eager to get back.”

As previously mentioned, Hagi appeared to be heading out, but instead he has been forced to catch up with the B team.

Rather than pouting or losing his cool, he has instead led by example.

Hagi has led Romania and demonstrated his leadership abilities in the past; Clement needs quality and experience, and Hagi has both.

Ianis Hagi was noticeably absent from the B team’s SPFL Trust Trophy match against Clyde, despite having played in the previous two games.

Hagi’s return would provide much-needed inspiration and new legs.

In “colt” teams, up to two overage players are allowed, but Alex Lowry, the current Gers number 30, did not appear as he lit up the occasion.

So far this season, Tom Lawrence has played 92 minutes per game on average, almost by default, with no other options.

Having struggled with injuries for the past two seasons at the age of thirty, he isn’t becoming any faster.

Despite not having much speed, Hagi is one of the team’s most technically proficient players, has excellent passing ability, and never quits.

Ignore the rumoured £6,000 weekly salary increase clause if he returns to the field, especially now that Jose Cifuentes is off the books.

Has it been a year since Hagi last appeared in the starting lineup? Could this be the start of a much-needed comeback for Hagi?

“Disgraceful”—Jeff Stelling blows up on live television following what he witnessed while watching Rangers

When it came to Jefte’s red card during Rangers’ 2-0 loss to Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday, August 13, Jeff Stelling did not hold back.

The Brazilian was already given a contentious caution earlier in the game when referee Marco Guida called back an innocent challenge after the player won a header.

After eventually losing twice in the closing minutes despite trying to play with 10 men, Philippe Clement’s team was severely criticised by Stelling for the referee’s call in a crucial Champions League qualifying match.

“It’s a financial disaster for Rangers, more than anything else,” he said during a live interview on talkSPORT on Wednesday, August 14, at 6:13 a.m. Was the red card, though, a little questionable?

“I saw it for the first time this morning and I can totally understand why Clement feels that’s the worst decision he’s seen in 30 years,” Andy Townsend retorted. Nothing that I can recall seeing was as absurd and ridiculous as that.

“I find it to be completely ridiculous. His first yellow was a gentle prod, but one of those ones you just have to learn to live with. The second choice is absurd; it seems like a joke. It makes sense why the Rangers supporters would be furious.

Stelling made a brief closing statement, saying only, “It’s disgraceful.” That kind of decision shouldn’t be made by a qualified referee.

Rangers eliminated from the Champions League due to a refereeing error

The Gers will still suffer a secondary financial blow on top of the already significant blow of being eliminated from one of the biggest football competitions.

The Gers would have had a far better chance of making progress even though nobody can predict what would have happened in the final 40 minutes of the game had Jefte stayed on the field.

With Derek Ferguson even criticising the referee for “cheating” after witnessing the red card decision, the supporters at Hampden Park have every right to be incensed over the ruling made by a Champions League-caliber official.

Rangers will now have to make do with the Europa League, which offers a far smaller financial boost than the Champions League. Clement has already said that the team cannot be completely rebuilt in the upcoming weeks.

The team will feel cheated, and it is completely understandable why, even though some supporters will argue that the Gers had enough quality and talent to easily claim the victory after almost losing the first leg 1-0.

Given Brighton exile’s indication of one path “home,” bubbling Abdallah Sima to Rangers transfer swirl may have solution

Despite an injury-plagued season, the forward scored sixteen goals on loan at Ibrox last term.

Winger Abdallah Sima has quickly disappeared from the scene at Brighton, which has some supporters demanding a return to Rangers.

Despite a spell in the Scottish Premiership marred by injuries, the 23-year-old drew attention from the Ibrox support and Philippe Clement last season. Seeking a second shot in the English Premier League this summer, he went back to the Seagulls but soon vanished from sight under new manager Fabian Hurzeler.

Sima was not named in the squad for the last pre-season friendly against Villarreal at the AMEX Stadium, while the wide man participated in the club’s tour of Japan as the German considered his alternatives on the flanks. It continues from being turned down from the matchday side for the friendly clash with QPR last weekend.

That has generated conjecture among supporters about a ramping up of return policies. Sima could be transferred before the window closes, with the Senegal international already in the last 12 months of contract on the south coast. Although he admitted any deal was out of his control, he left the door open for a possible return to Rangers throughout his stay in Govan.

Sima declared before his brief stay in Glasgow came to an end: “It’s not up to me. I say I’m glad to be here since I always feel at ease here. I have always delighted to offer everything for this shirt. As I say, this place feels like home and we will see in the next few weeks as everyone wants to stay in a place that feels like home.

But boss Clement, who acknowledged still being in touch with the forward, agreed a return would only be on the cards if Brighton lowered their £7million asking price for a player branded “one of his sons”. Early this summer, he said: “I’ve been in touch with him, of course. He is akin to one of my sons. Abda finds great enjoyment in the club. Abda plays the way we did last season and enjoys it. His part in that.

“He appreciated the staff and his teammates. Ultimately, though, Brighton is the owner, thus all of it comes down to money. Right now it is not feasible. However, we will see along the road should a possibility arise since we want to get him back.

Therefore, a return would need a significant price reduction to release Sima from his English top flight contract’s last year. However, there might be opportunity for negotiations with possible suitors since the athlete is free to leave for nothing next summer.

Rangers to sign £6m centre mid at Champions League club – report

According to Paul Gorst, Rangers will need to pay more than £6 million to sign Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, beating out Celtic, Leeds United, and other interested clubs.

According to a Liverpool Echo journalist, the Reds are not actively looking to sell the 19-year-old, who is valued at more than £6 million.

RB Salzburg attempted to test the waters with a bid in that region, but the Merseyside club declined.

Gorst, who previously stated that Gers are interested in signing him, responded to the £6 million bid by saying it falls far short of their valuation.

“I don’t believe Liverpool are actively looking to sell Bobby Clark.

“He’s a player with a huge future and I think Liverpool are quite relaxed at the moment.”

Bobby Clark can strengthen the Rangers XI.

The teenager’s technical abilities, versatility, and potential for growth could significantly benefit the Gers XI.

Clark, only 19 years old, has already made an impression at Anfield, appearing in 12 games last season and demonstrating his abilities in both domestic and European competitions.

His versatility in midfield adds to the Gers’ lineup, and his youth bodes well for future development and improvement.

Clark’s experience in high-pressure games, such as the EFL Cup final and Europa League, demonstrates his readiness for a first-team role.

In the absence of experienced midfielders Ryan Jack and John Lundstram, his inclusion could bring new energy and creativity to the squad.

Furthermore, if it is a loan move, Liverpool, a Champions League club, will be taking a strategic approach to further his development, which may benefit the Glasgow club in the short term.

Rangers to beat Celtic to transfer of the season

Amid rumours of a move to Rangers or Celtic, Hannibal Mejbri, a midfielder for Manchester United, is eager for regular playing time.

According to a National interview with Andy Mitten that Football Scotland published on August 7, the Hoops seem to be planning a permanent move, while the Gers are interested in signing a player on loan.

On July 25, AfricaFoot revealed that Manchester United and the Gers were deep in negotiations to sign the Tunisia international during this transfer window.

“As a football player, all I want to do is play and prove myself,” he stated. It’s what every player will say. I’m sick of watching other people play while I sit on a bench.

“Teden Mengi and Antony Elanga were close to me. I’m proud of them since I’ve watched them leave the team and become successful Premier League players. They had to play every week, just like me, even though it’s more difficult at United.

“I get along well with everyone at United.” I’m a cheerful, smiling person. These days, Lenny [Yoro], who recently joined, and Maxi [Oyedele] and Ada [Diallo] are my friends. He is young like me and speaks French.

Rangers need to take advantage of Hannibal Mejbri’s subliminal departure wish.

Mejbri expressed his wish to leave Manchester United in pursuit of consistent playing time in a recent interview that can be interpreted as an oblique “come and get me” plea.

This gives the Gers a fantastic chance to sign him before their bitter rivals Celtic.

The 21-year-old’s desire for more playing time is evident from his remarks that he wants to play and is sick of sitting on the bench.

He made reference to friends who left United to find success elsewhere, which emphasises even more how important it is for him to play frequently.

Rangers ought to take advantage of this circumstance by giving Mejbri a chance to be a major contributor to their squad.

The possibility of playing football on a regular basis with the first team could be what makes him decide.

Philippe Clement

Rangers manager Philippe Clement

Gers would not only bolster their team but also stop Celtic from doing so by obtaining his services.

Rangers have confirmed that a permanent bid is required to secure their next signing, Fabrizio Romano

Rangers are interested in Hannibal Mejbri, but Manchester United only wants a permanent transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Although the “conversation is true” between the Gers and Man United, the Italian transfer specialist stated via GiveMeSport [7 August] that a move to Ibrox this summer would be challenging.

It is believed that Mejbri could relocate to Scotland in the event that Philippe Clement’s team made a permanent offer, though David Edgar has already hinted that this is unlikely to happen [X].

Could Hannibal Mejbri, a striker for Rangers, be acquired by Manchester United?

Considering the transfers the Gers have made so far this summer, it might not be such a smart idea to sign an inexperienced winger like Mejbri permanently.

Liam Kelly, Connor Barron, and Clinton Nsiala were all signed as free agents, while Robin Propper, Hamza Igamane, and Jefte were signed for a reduced amount of money, and Oscar Cortes and Vaclav Cerny were brought in on loan.

It won’t be cheap dealing with a Premier League team like the Red Devils this summer, as they will be hoping to profit as much as they can from Mejbri’s sale.

The 21-year-old Tunisian international is undoubtedly a talented player, but there should be some worry because he has made more appearances for his nation than for Old Trafford.

He has only made 13 senior appearances for the team he joined at the age of 16, with his best stint occurring during a one-season loan with 41 appearances made for Birmingham City in the 2022–2023 campaign.

After signing several extremely young players, especially after players like Connor Goldson and John Lundstram left the building, Clement needs to start bringing in a lot more experience to his team.

Mejbri would be a really exciting loan player to bring to Ibrox this summer, but since Man United is only interested in a long-term agreement, there are better uses of funds at Ibrox.

“Given the awful…” – Four Lads respond to Rangers news from the previous day

It’s a relief that Oscar Cortes, an attacker for the Rangers, is only out for five weeks, according to Four Lads Had a Dream.

Four Lads took to X and said that, considering the early reports, things could have been much worse and that he feared a long-term blow.

On August 5, though, Philippe Clement declared that the 20-year-old would be back in four to five weeks.

“Considering the horrible rumours, I am almost relieved at this news,” Four Lads wrote.

“Though it’s not ideal, I was prepared for worse.”

Oscar Cortes’s journey with the Rangers has not been easy.

It has been a difficult time for Cortes, the young attacker, at Ibrox due to a string of injuries.

Cortes has had a difficult time staying healthy since joining the team, which has greatly reduced his impact on the pitch.

Rangers must be patient and cautious with Cortes’ rehabilitation process in light of his past.

Putting him back into action too soon runs the risk of making his injuries worse and delaying his recuperation.

It’s also crucial to intelligently manage his playing time.

He can avoid reoccurring injuries and guarantee that he can regularly contribute to the team when fully fit by gradually increasing his workload and closely monitoring his fitness levels.

The Green Bay Packers can maximise Cortes’ potential and make sure he stays a valuable asset for the team for the long run by taking a methodical and deliberate approach to his return.

Jeff Stelling talks about what he saw in Rangers vs. Hearts live on air

After a 0-0 draw with Hearts on Saturday (3 August), Jeff Stelling thinks Rangers will have a “tough season.”

In the first game of the Scottish Premiership season, Philippe Clement’s team and the Jam Tarts played to a tie at Tynecastle. However, there were many things to talk about.

Referee Willie Collum turned down a possible penalty claim from Hearts, and Stelling thinks that Steven Naismith’s team probably should have won all three points against the Gers.

Stelling said on talkSPORT live on August 5 at 6:57 a.m., “Hearts got a little tired near the end, but I thought they were the better side.” They might have been punished, and they could have been.

“When I saw Rangers, I thought, ‘Jeez, this is going to be a tough season.'”

Should the draw between Rangers and Hearts worry you?

A draw against a rival team in the Scottish Premiership is not the best way to start the season, even though it is only the first game.

Many people already think that the Belgian is under a lot of pressure at Ibrox, even though he only took over as manager in October. This is especially true considering how the 2023–24 season ended.

Clement brought a lot of hope to the club, and early in his time there, they won the League Cup. But as Celtic moved ahead of them in the league table and won the Scottish Cup, those same sparks started to fade.

Philippe Clement

Rangers manager Philippe Clement

They need to beat Celtic if the new manager wants to keep his job at Ibrox. This is something Rangers hasn’t done well in Scotland in recent years.

With Lawrence Shankland on the pitch, who scored a lot of goals, the draw against Hearts could have gone either way, but Clement will be happy to leave Tynecastle without losing.

With £30m on the line in the next 24 hours, Koppen will have to pull out all the stops for Rangers

The new Rangers season is almost here, and it’s safe to say that fans are getting antsy about deals.

The Ibrox team’s first game in the Scottish Premiership is this weekend at Tynecastle against Hearts. A few days later, they’ll likely play Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League QR3.

Fans of the Rangers know that this time of the season has a lot of games, but there’s a sense that the club’s squad is a bit too ready for the next few games.

The transfer window stays open for another month, but the Champions League team registration deadline is coming up soon, which makes things more difficult.

Rangers have until August 1st, which is tomorrow, to add any new players before their match against Dynamo Kiev/Partizan Belgrade. Time is running out quickly.

Rangers lose their experience in Europe

Rangers still have a lot of work to do during the transfer window.

Many well-known players have left the club in the past few months, and as of this writing, they still haven’t been replaced.

Borna Barisic has been replaced by Jefte, but the losses of John Lundstram and now Connor Goldson have left big holes in the team’s leadership and play.

With Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe also leaving, the Rangers have brought in new players with little experience to fill their spots.

It’s a big deal to see a player leave for no reason, especially in European football, and Rangers will have a tough time qualifying for the Champions League this summer.

Up to £30 million is at stake for qualifying for the Champions League and around £4 million just for making it to the playoffs. The upcoming QR3 match is important for more than just prestige.

It could really make or break the rest of our transfer window and season

Rangers want to sign a number of players.

Rangers has been linked to a number of players as the window gets closer to its closing date.

If nothing changes on the day before the deadline for the Champions League squad, you can understand why Rangers fans might be worried that nothing will.

The Rangers will need to find a new defender to replace Connor Goldson. This week, they have been linked to both Mees Hilgers (FC Twente) and Scott McKenna (unattached).

But it’s not clear if either player is a real target or if they’re close to joining the team.

Rangers also want to add more midfielders because of the confusion over what seemed to be a knock-back from Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan.

Rangers aren’t interested in signing the 30-year-old Spanish player, even though it’s been said that Jordan turned down the chance to move to Glasgow.

Any way you look at it, Rangers has told friendly reporters that they have moved on to other targets.

In the final third, it’s also clear that Rangers want to add star players.

In the last week or so, Rangers’ bids for Plymouth attacker Morgan Whittaker and Porto winger Gonzalo Borges have been turned down. The club has been linked to a number of wingers.

Rangers are also still interested in Abdallah Sima, who was on Brighton’s pre-season tour of Japan.

And during this whole time, Lawrence Shankland is still strongly linked by one newspaper.

Are any of these players going to join Rangers soon? We will have to wait and see.

Lots of transfer stories break 24 hours before they happen, though, so Rangers fans are worried when there isn’t any action.

Fans of the club will be hoping that recruiter Nils Koppen has a few more tricks up his sleeve and that our Champions League team gets stronger before next week.

“This deal”—Chris Jack said what a source said as the player sealed a multimillion-dollar deal to leave the Rangers

Chris Jack says that Rangers didn’t think about Sam Lammers playing as a number nine before he signed a permanent deal with FC Twente.

Gers got £3 million when they sold David Edgar, who is 27 years old. At first glance, this seems like a loss because they signed him for £3.5 million last summer. [BBC]

Lammers scored a lot of goals while on loan at Utrecht during the second half of last season.

On July 29, at 7:25 a.m., Jack told Rangers Review’s YouTube channel, “I talked to someone about that possibility. ‘Can Lammers play a different position where he can be more effective?'” They said “No” because being a number 9 for Rangers is not the same as being a number 9 in Holland.

During his loan in the second half of the season, he also did well. Rangers were able to get some kind of payment for him.

“By the sixth to eighth week of last season, we all thought he was done.” Rangers can get that fee back if Lammers hits all the targets that are part of the deal. It’s also important to note that the wage is not being paid.

There is a deal that works for everyone. He was never going to be the Rangers’ ninth player.

Rangers made the right choice when they sold Sam Lammers.

Gers made the right choice when he sold Lammers because he had a hard time adjusting to playing as a number nine or even a ten.

This was because he had a bad first half of the season at Ibrox, which made many people doubt his ability to play for the team.

Even though they lost a little money at first, getting £3 million for a player who wasn’t doing well is a fair result.

Getting rid of the Dutch player also lowers the club’s wage bill, which could be used to buy players who fit their system and needs better.

The decision was good for everyone, and I hope they use the money wisely to make the first team stronger.

We still don’t know if a good striker will be signed, because Lawrence Shankland would certainly meet many of the needs.

Rangers have signed a replacement for Cantwell according to Fabrizio Romano

While Todd Cantwell turned in a transfer request at Ibrox, Rangers are already looking for new players to replace him, Fabrizio Romano told GIVEMESPORT exclusively.

The playmaker shocked the Light Blues midweek when he told Philippe Clement that he wants to leave the club this summer for a new adventure. He has only been in Scotland for 18 months.

After being sent to train with the B team until his future is decided, the club is now “active” in the transfer market looking for possible replacements. Interest in a number of unnamed players has been raised.

Rangers are going to trade for Todd Cantwell.

Cantwell has not played in pre-season.

At first, Clement told the media that the 26-year-old midfielder had been hurt, but now it’s been revealed that he wants to leave, which is why he hasn’t played in any of the club’s pre-season games this summer.

The English player can leave Rangers, but the club will want to get as much money back as possible because they want to rebuild the team and spend any extra money on new players.

Since the beginning of the summer, seven new players have already moved to Ibrox: Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Oscar Cortes, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly, Hamza Igamane, and Vaclav Cerny.

When their contracts expired, John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, Jon McLaughlin, and Kemar Roofe were all free to leave the first team. Robby McCrorie was also sold to Aberdeen in search of more regular football.

Also, Connor Goldson is almost out of the team after an offer from Aris Limassol was accepted. There is also a lot of talk about James Tavernier, Scott Wright, Sam Lammers, and other players who might be leaving.

GIVEMESPORT Key Stat: In the Scottish Premiership in 2023–24, Todd Cantwell completed 84.1% of the passes he made.

Rangers say they “will be active” in the transfer market.

A new message from Fabrizio Romano

While talking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano admitted that nothing “imminent” is happening with Cantwell right now, but he was sure that the club would work hard to find him a new home and a replacement.

“Yes, for sure, the Rangers need to find someone to replace Cantwell. It’s not really happening right now, though, so we need to wait for names.

It’s clear that teams are interested in more than one player, though, since they need to find someone to fill that spot.

“But for sure, they will be active in that position, I’m sure.”

Hannibal Mejbri, a star player for Manchester United, has been mentioned as a possible replacement. The two teams are said to be in “advanced talks” about a loan deal.

Cantwell joined Rangers from Norwich for an undisclosed fee and has played 64 times for the team. He scored 14 goals to help them win the Scottish League Cup.

Confirmed: Why Joan Jordan will not move to Ibrox this summer, according to Chris Jack

The Rangers have decided not to sign Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan, and Chris Jack says he will not be coming to Ibrox this summer.

A reporter for The Rangers Review said on Sunday (28 July) that the Light Blues will not keep trying to sign the Spanish player, even though there were rumours that a deal was almost complete between the two clubs.

Jordan’s future is still unknown because of all the rumours that he might move to Glasgow in the summer, but he won’t be the only new player Philippe Clement brings in.

According to reports from Spain, the Gers had an accepted bid to sign the 30-year-old. He would move on loan, but Clement’s team could pay £3.38 million to make the stay permanent [Fernando Serrano, July 27].

Rangers might sign Joan Jordan because she is rumoured to be leaving Sevilla.

For weeks, it looked like the Light Blues were getting closer to finally getting their man this summer. But it has always looked like this would be a very hard deal for Clement’s team to pull off.

They did want to get rid of the midfielder, which gave the Gers hope. But there was always a difference in how much the two clubs thought he was worth, and it would have been hard for the Light Blues to close that gap.

Rangers need to get rid of some players on their payroll before they can add many more before the new season. Connor Goldson is leaving soon, but neither Todd Cantwell nor James Tavernier are close to leaving.

Hopefully, Clement and his team at Rangers will quickly move on to other players they want to sign so that their team is ready for the first game of the Premier League season.

Kris Boyd wants Rangers to get rid of another Beale signing because he is “just not good enough”

People say that the best football players talk to each other on the pitch.

That will always be what makes legendary Rangers striker Kris Boyd angry when he thinks about Todd Cantwell’s hit-or-miss, trouble-making year-and-a-half at Ibrox.

A man who might not be remembered for how smart he was. Neither his goals nor his helpers. but instead for his social media business and a rather rude argument with Chris Sutton.

Rangers fans don’t usually side with the other team, but today they did.

But a lot of people on the blue side of Glasgow agree with Boyd. They told the Scottish Sun that Sutton “got it bang on” when he asked if Cantwell had the rock-solid mentality to handle life in such a high-pressure setting.

David Martindale, who was manager of Livingston at the time, called him “one of the best players in the Premiership” back in September. Cantwell rarely lived up to that reputation, though.

Todd Cantwell wants to leave the Rangers.

Boyd sighs, “He will always be known as ‘TikTok Todd.'” “What a shame! The way things have gone at Rangers for a player with so much talent and skill.”

“But Todd Cantwell can only blame himself for how things turned out at Ibrox.”

Manager Philippe Clement said this week that the former Norwich City playmaker had put in a transfer request. Not long ago, he was linked with £40 million moves to Liverpool and other teams.

Cantwell is not in the Rangers’ pre-season plans because of this. Until his future is clear, he will train with the reserves.

“I’m sure he’ll say that Philippe Clement didn’t pick him for some games,” adds Boyd. The former England Under-21 international started the last two league games against Celtic from the bench and was also left out of the Europa League final against Benfica.

“But Cantwell wants to leave Rangers badly because he doesn’t have the right mindset to play for a team that size.”

“The truth is that Cantwell didn’t show why he should be in the Rangers’ lineup enough.” He played 65 games and scored 14 goals, which is about one goal every four and a half games.

“I’m sorry, but that’s not good enough for someone with his skill in the final third.”

“We’ve never seen a player so determined to make the team and show his manager he was wrong for leaving him off.” Not on the pitch, where it counts.

Ibrox didn’t fit Chris Sutton, that much was clear.

Cantwell’s desire to leave Scottish football behind doesn’t come as a surprise to Sutton, who wants to have the last laugh.

He agrees with Boyd too, saying that the so-called “Dereham Deco” hasn’t always shown the level of fierce competition that all players who want to do well on the Old Firm must have.

Sutton says, “It doesn’t look like he has the stomach or the temper.”

“That’s an odd one.” Most of the time, a player who says they want a new challenge has already met a lot of their goals. Rangers haven’t done much with Cantwell.

“What will people remember him for?” Cantwell missed a chance. I’ve always said that he’s talented, and the Rangers gave him a great chance to show it.

“But you have to keep doing well on the pitch.”

Sam Lammers’ exit cash unlocks Lawrence Shankland to Rangers transfer move, as Hearts brace for bid

The Tynecastle captain is wanted by Ibrox boss Philippe Clement this summer.

Sam Lammers is on the verge of joining Twente Enschede for £2.7 million, potentially allowing Rangers to fund their bid for Lawrence Shankland.

On Tuesday, Record Sport reported that the Hearts skipper is back on the wanted list at Ibrox due to a shift in position from Philippe Clement. However, the Belgian manager will still need to raise around £3 million to persuade the Edinburgh club to sell the talismanic striker. Clement may soon receive a windfall as Dutch frontman Lammers prepares to return to his homeland.

The 27-year-old has been told he will not play a role in Clement’s summer rebuild, but he still has three years left on his lucrative contract after joining from Italian club Atalanta last summer. While Utrecht and NAC Breda matched the asking price, they failed to meet the player’s wage demands.

Twente, on the other hand, believes they have the funds to bring Lammers back to the Netherlands after setting aside a package worth around £1.3 million per year to sign Wout Weghorst from Burnley. However, it is understood that the Euro 2024 star ended discussions last week, with Twente’s focus shifting to Gers’ Lammers instead.

If a deal can be reached, Clement will look to spend the funds raised, with Shankland high on his list of targets despite the manager’s decision not to sign the Scotland striker in January. Clement is desperate to bring in reinforcements ahead of the Premiership opener against Shankland’s Jambos at Tynecastle next Saturday, and he may arrange a loan for Sevilla star Joan Jordan in the coming days.

According to reports, the La Liga club wants Rangers to agree to a season-long loan with an option to buy the midfielder for up to £4 million. This deal would also require the Light Blues to cover roughly 60% of the 30-year-old’s salary.

Jordan could be joined by Vaclav Cerny, who is expected to move on loan from Wolfsburg. Meanwhile, James Tavernier, Todd Cantwell, and Connor Goldson are looking into ways to leave.

Jack Butland: ‘Alarm bells’ ringing for Rangers following latest – sources

Rangers have slapped a “astronomical” price tag on Jack Butland amid financial concerns, according to Football Insider sources.

On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke stated that Philippe Clement’s £30 million value may discourage prospective teams.

The club plans to raise funds through player sales this summer, but by pricing Butland so expensive, they are unlikely to cash in on one of their most valuable assets.

While Clement’s club will retain a top player at Ibrox, it will do nothing to enhance the group for the future, raising worries among supporters.

Pressure is increasing on both the manager and the board to reduce the gap on Celtic, but budgetary constraints are becoming a stumbling block.

Jack Butland’s transfer announcement raises alarms at Rangers

Rangers need to sell players before they can buy this summer, and Clement just confirmed that every player is available for purchase at the appropriate price.

This statement, however, did not include Butland, with the club anxious to keep last season’s Player of the Year despite his high resale value.

Butland joined Ibrox for free last summer after leaving Crystal Palace and soon established himself as a key member of the squad.

Last season, he appeared 58 times in all competitions, helping Rangers win the Scottish League Cup despite losing the Scottish Cup and League.

He remains an important element of Clement’s strategy and will not be allowed to go, despite interest from English teams.

However, Rangers may face additional problems if they are unable to move some of their peripheral players to make room for new newcomers.

According to Football Insider, both Connor Goldson and James Tavernier have shown interest in leaving Ibrox, but financial concerns remain.

Fabrizio Romano reports Rangers-linked Scotland striker now has signed surprise transfer

During this window of transfers, Rangers are searching for more firepower.

After conceding several goals from the team’s ineffective forward line during the previous campaign, the Gers still appear short in the last third.

With Danilo, a Brazilian striker, having only recently returned from injury and Cyriel Dessers’ status still unknown, Rangers supporters are hoping for one more senior option to join the team this transfer window.

However, Fabrizio Romano claims that one possible option for the Scotland national team will not be to move to Ibrox after agreeing to an unexpected transfer to Spain.

McBurnie seals an unexpected agreement in Spain

Oliver McBurnie’s connections to the Rangers are always present.

Despite being born in Leeds, the 28-year-old Scotland international striker has a deep bond with the Ibrox club and isn’t afraid to flaunt his Rangers colours.

Although McGurnie acknowledged that he would be amenable to joining Rangers after departing Sheffield United in the summer, the lanky striker is more likely to move to sunny Spain.

At least, that’s what Fabrizio Romano says, stating that Oliver McBurnie has an agreement with Las Palmas, a La Liga team.

According to Romano, McBurnie, a free agent, will have a medical on Friday before moving permanently to Gran Canaria.

Hunt for a Rangers striker continues

Any notion that Oliver McBurnie could have filled Rangers’ striker void has been dispelled by the agreement to bring the hitman to Spain.

Although there hasn’t been a formal indication that Rangers intended to sign McBurnie this summer, the striker has frequently been linked to Ibrox throughout his career.

The contract McBurnie had with Sheffield United, where he had moved in a £20 million deal from Swansea in 2019, expired, so maybe there was a chance to make a deal this summer.

Now the focus will be on potential strikers that Rangers could be interested in signing.

Whilst McBurnie has found himself out of the Scotland picture as of late, another Scotland international forward in Lawrence Shankland has been linked to Rangers once again.

Another bluenose hitman who has made no bones about his Ibrox loyalties, the links have polarised supporters as Rangers look to strengthen the Ibrox forward line.

Rangers bid to sign £3m goal machine

According to the Daily Record, Philippe Clement is reportedly prepared to “push the button” on a Rangers trade for Hearts attacker Lawrence Shankland.

The Scotland international is once again on the Gers’ radar, according to a report from the newspaper in its online version on Monday, July 22, even though manager Clement decided not to pursue a deal back in January.

Shankland is nearing the end of his Tynecastle deal, but according to the Record, the Jambos may still demand “top dollar,” with Rangers possibly needing to come up with as much as £3 million to get the 28-year-old.

Before making a move for Shankland, the Light Blues would need to offload players in order to balance the books.

It makes sense for the Rangers to sign Lawrence Shankland.

With this one, it feels like Groundhog Day all over again because, during the January transfer window, the Rangers were constantly connected to a deal for Shankland.

Now, though, things are different because Rangers lost out to rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership, and you can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Shankland had stayed at Ibrox.

At 28, Shankland is in the prime of his career and was the leading scorer in the Scottish Premiership the previous season with 24 goals.

Shankland is said to be back on Rangers’ radar

The saying goes, “Defence wins titles,” and while there is some truth to that, Rangers need to add some quality to their final third as goals win championships.

Should they be able to acquire Shankland for approximately £3 million, it might be a crucial investment in their pursuit of winning the championship. To be honest, it makes perfect sense.

Casemiro’s four-word reaction to Manchester United’s win over Rangers at Murrayfield

Rangers outcast Sam Lammers declined a move to NEC Nijmegen, according to The Scottish Sun.

The newspaper said on its website [21 July] that, despite manager Rogier Meijer’s interest in the Dutch striker this summer, Lammers has decided not to leave Ibrox for the Eredivisie club.

Lammers was expected to be one of the first players to go after his remarkable six-month loan spell with FC Utrecht, but he has decided to stay put for the time being.

Sam Lammers rejects an Ibrox escape as Rangers transfer discussions emerge.

After failing to strike the ground running at Ibrox, scoring only twice in 31 appearances, he elected to spend the second part of the season on loan in the Netherlands.

He scored 11 goals in 20 games, attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Nijmegen, who are certainly interested in signing him this summer.

According to the Daily Record, Utrecht are willing to match the Gers’ £2.7 million asking price for the 27-year-old, but his salary is a concern.

Lammers has a chance to stay in Scotland and compete for a spot in the team, despite continued doubts over Cyriel Dessers’ availability.

With Danilo out for much of last season, the Nigerian striker was Clement’s only viable option at Ibrox, and he continued to disappoint with his all-round performance.

Clement hoped that bringing Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves would relieve some of Dessers’ goalscoring strain, but despite scoring over 20 goals in his first season, fans remain sceptical.

It will be an intriguing tale to follow this summer to see if Lammers is looking for a better offer elsewhere or if he is willing to stay at Ibrox and battle for his club.

Fantastic’ attacker who wants to come to Scotland is being pursued by Rangers, and they are willing to pay more than £7 million for him

According to the Daily Record, Rangers have made a proposal of more than £7 million in an attempt to capture attacker Morgan Whittaker of Plymouth Argyle.

On July 19, the news outlet said that the Championship club had rejected Gers’ first offer for the 23-year-old right winger.

Although Ibrox has been considering the Englishman for some time, manager Wayne Rooney wants to keep him at the team and is aware that he wants to move to Scotland.

Rangers finally shown ambition after Philippe Clement’s concerns about the future surfaced.

The Gers’ offer for Whittaker shows a great deal of ambition and a readiness to make team investments.

This action takes place in the midst of uncertainty surrounding Philippe Clement’s future. The Belgian has already voiced worries about the club’s financial status and the money available for transfers, and Kris Boyd even expressed anxiety that he would depart.

Contrary to Clement’s previous remarks, the bid of over £7 million for the 23-year-old indicates that the club is willing to make financial investments in order to develop the team.

Whittaker has been a long-term objective for the Ibrox team and has previously been praised for his skills. He scored 19 goals and contributed eight assists for Plymouth Argyle in the Championship last season.

When he was at Swansea and scored a hat-trick against Plymouth, the manager Russell Martin commented, “I thought he was fantastic.” He has plenty at his disposal.

He is a long-term aim, and his acquisition to the team would give the offensive unit much-needed talent and depth.

The 23-year-old would surely be a regular starter due to his quickness and ability to consistently threaten goals.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement

Additionally, his signing would make it clear to the league’s other teams and spectators that the Geeks are serious about contending for championships.

‘Time for change’: David Edgar blasts Rangers board in new CEO’s admission

David Edgar has slammed the Rangers board after recent revelations, acknowledging that it is “time for change” at Ibrox.

The Gers board has faced criticism this summer for delays in Ibrox renovation as well as a lack of transfer movement in and out of Philippe Clement’s side during the transfer window.

The Light Blues have yet to name a new CEO after James Bisgrove’s surprising departure. Heart and Hand broadcaster Edgar says the current structure at Rangers “hasn’t worked”.

On Thursday (18 July), he wrote on X that a board of directors should not be involved in the day-to-day operations of any corporation. Appoint a CEO, then stand aside and allow them to run the show while keeping an eye on things.

“If they fail to hit the agreed-upon targets, fire them and move on. We’ve had a ‘too many cooks’ situation at Ibrox for far too long, and it’s not working. “It’s time for change.”

Are Rangers close to making any new additions during the summer transfer window?

Supporters have every reason to be frustrated with the Rangers board at this time, since those in authority have promised far more than they are capable of delivering.

This summer, Clement and his recruiting staff were intended to rebuild the playing squad, but just one player has been moved for a transfer fee, second-choice goalie Robby McCrorie.

Several players, including James Tavernier, Todd Cantwell, Sam Lammers, and Cyriel Dessers, have been associated with leaving Glasgow, but have yet to make a move.

Furthermore, the lack of communication from the club’s top management on the delays at Ibrox and then the interim relocation to Hampden Park has been amateurish at best.

Rangers need to step up their game if they truly want to close the gap on the pitch with Celtic, since their recent acts have been amateurish.

Ibrox View: Koppen has to sign striker linked to Rangers ASAP following goal v Tottenham

Following the outstanding performance of the forward in a pre-season game against Tottenham, Rangers’ director of football recruitment Nils Koppen has a wonderful opportunity to bring Lawrence Shankland to Ibrox and should act fast.

Shankland proved his mettle on Wednesday, July 17, in the friendly against Spurs by scoring for Hearts in a game Tynecastle lost 5-1.

Following a defensive error by Tottenham’s team, Shankland got the ball in the box before turning swiftly and coolly placing it into the bottom corner of the net.

The Gers need this kind of goalscoring capacity exactly to challenge Celtic for the championship next season.

Rangers attached to Lawrence Shankland

Rangers are eager to return after Shankland once more [GIVEMESPORT, 17 May] with Philippe Clement scheduled to bolster the squad to Premiership success.

Losing to Celtic, who just won their third consecutive championship, has motivated everyone at the Gers to keep becoming better.

With thirty goals and eight assists, Shankland has had an incredible season.

Clement might be short in forwards with Kemar Roofe’s contract ending and Fabio Silva returning to Wolves, so Shankland becomes even more crucial.

Although Shankland only has one year left on his contract, GiveMeSport’s report indicates Hearts value him at £5 million, which would seem a lot. Nevertheless, his goalscoring might be very important for Rangers.

Rangers should try once more even though they struggled to sign him earlier. Shankland’s abilities might be the secret to surpassing Celtic and claiming the championship.

Koppen should hence act right now. Shankland’s latest performance against Tottenham demonstrates his capability. Rangers should sign him at this ideal moment and bring his skill to Ibrox.

After the winger deal, Koppen may have more opportunities thanks to the Gers’ unique transfer “relationship”

There has been a refreshingly new attitude to the Rangers transfer market, with names from all over the world being mooted as potential targets.

Philippe Clement has also discussed Nils Koppen’s new hiring strategy, and the management is expecting to sign more players like Mohamed Diomande.

Oscar Cortes, a 20-year-old Colombian who made an impression during his early appearances before an injury terminated his season with the Rangers, is one “new” addition who will be a welcome sight once he is completely up to speed.

Oscar Cortes’ move to the Rangers may only be the beginning.

Cortes was a star of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup just last summer, and he has now been confirmed as a permanent deal, albeit with a one-year loan first.

Given that Koppen now frequently attends the TransferRoom briefings, it has been explained how the Rangers were able to sign such a gifted young player.

Agents and club representatives gather at these events to talk about potential players and possible deal structures.

Tomas Sarmiento, an agent for Cortes, gave TransferRoom an explanation of why the platform is so crucial for hiring managers.

Many individuals, I would say, are hesitant to bring Latin American players to the European market because they haven’t been proven at what you would consider to be the upper echelons of the game.

Through these portals, we are able to speak with those in positions of authority and discuss in greater depth any uncertainties they may have and how best to address them.

“TransferRoom gave us the ability to set up meetings, exchanges, and all of this.

Oscar Cortes will stay with the Rangers after a good agreement was reached. It’s a club that has done a great deal to help him grow and adjust to life in Europe.

“I believe he’s headed in the right direction, and hopefully, with all the support TransferRoom offered, we can build on this relationship and open up new markets.”

The Rangers’ partnership with the Cortes agency may be beneficial.

It can only be advantageous to have a positive working connection with a company such as Top Athlete Management.

A player trade model that works must capture players before they make their “big” move.

For Rangers, South America is a mostly unexplored market that may also be inexpensive if players are acquired at the appropriate time.

Oscar Cortes has only showed hints of his potential thus far, so supporters will be eager to see what he can do now that he has completed the preseason and is healthy. At £4 million, he will be expected to deliver.

When TransferRoom hosts another event in a few weeks, hopefully Koppen will find someone similar for the other wing.

Based on latest Rangers’ update, Copa America standout gets nearer to summer transfer

Among the players connected to Rangers from Latin America recently is Thomas Galdames.

Following the breakdown of the Jose Cordoba deal, 25-year-old Chileno defender from Ibrox was highlighted as a transfer target for initially unidentified Belgian teams.

In recent seasons, there has been an effort to develop the athletic 6ft Chilean into an aggressive left-back alternative; he is a natural center-back.

As Thomas Galdames gets ready to depart Godoy Cruz, there is a lot of gossip about him.

Following Chile’s exit from the Copa America, Galdames is prepared to make his next decision after the conversation about the player’s future stopped by the tournament.

Now a Belgian newspaper has been offering an update on Ranger’s interest in the defender and what is most likely to happen next.

Galdames closing in on a move.

Back in June, it was reported that Royal Antwerp, a Belgian team, is closely monitoring Thomas Galdames this summer.

According to the research, Rangers and the Pro League team were scheduled to fight for the defender’s signature in this transfer season.

Voetbal Nieuws have been offering a fresh report on the linkages, and shockingly, it seems that Royal Antwerp, not Rangers, is the destination, which is edging closer.

After negotiating a contract for Argentine left-sided Independiente defender Ayrton Costa, Antwerp is now said to be closing in on a double South American swoop.

With the Great Old looking to improve the left-back area of their team ahead of the new season, the circumstances involving Chilean center-back Thomas Galdames is a little more complicated.

Rangers’ interest in Galdames allegedly “cooled” with Antwerp in pole position to seize “advantage” from the circumstances.

Voetbal Nieuws estimates a deal to bring Galdames to Belgium is currently very much in the “pipeline,” even with Rangers perhaps absent from the scene.

Summer of left-back instability for Rangers

Although Thomas Galdames has a good profile, Rangers already want to have moved elsewhere.

After Borna Barisic left for Trabzonspor, the club brought Brazilian left-back Jefte to their ranks this summer.

Turkish variantRidvan Yilmaz is also expected to remain at Rangers next season despite connections to recently promoted Bundesliga team St Pauli.

Along with the defender enticed to move from AC Milan with the lure of first-team play, Rangers have included gifted left-sided centre-back Clinton Nsiala, 20, to their roster.

Another choice in the post and on a reasonable salary is Ben Davies, who has clearly been advised to leave the club.

Rangers are therefore at least well-stocked on the left-side of defence, and Thomas Galdames would have fierce competition to break through into the lineup.

Simultaneously, perhaps the club would rue a missed opportunity to acquire the Chilean if the defender moves to Antwerp and Rangers experiences more turbulence in this area of the team.

Rangers are in the middle of a power struggle, as Hotline punters can tell. Bennett and Clement have different ideas about one thing

Anthony Evans took your calls while some Hotline bettors were happy about England’s painful loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Even though Scotland’s Euro 2024 bid didn’t go as planned, a lot of people in the country were in the mood to party on Sunday night after seeing England lose again on the big stage.

Spain beat England 2-1, which was a fair result. Mikel Oyarzabal scored the game-winning goal four minutes from time, after Cole Palmer had cancelled out Nico Williams’ opening goal. It was England’s second straight loss in a European Championship final under Gareth Southgate, and people on the hotline wanted to pick on the unhappy team.

Someone from Rothesay named Jim McClean said, “It’s coming home. Sorry, England is coming home.” They got what they earned for how they played defence, thank God, Sir Gareth Southgate.Someone in London named Alfie Mullin agreed and said, “Well done, Spain.” “Hopefully that will shut up the cocky England fans until at least the next tournament,” said Wullie Graham from Bristol. “England’s cocky arrogance comes back to bite them once more,” he added. They still have tears on their faces from sadness, but Messrs. Lineker and Shearer are telling us they will win the next World Cup.

“Their problem is that they have good players but not a good team.” Spain deserved to win because they were so fun to watch the whole time. It would have been over before halftime for Spain if Pedri and Gavi had been available.

But some people who called the Hotline were surprised by how happy Scotland was about what happened in Berlin. In Newtonhill, Gary Stevenson said, “To all the Scots who tried to ruin the Euros Final, how embarrassing! Some of you even refused to watch it.” What do you think? Will they keep that ban in place and not watch the English Premiership? People thought Scotland was the worst team in the competition, which was an embarrassment. Be polite and don’t make them feel even worse by being rude.

The people of Scotland have kids who wear Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, and Manchester City shirts. I don’t get why the so-called Scotland fans hate everything English. They can’t wait for the next Super Sunday to watch the English Premier League. I could be wrong, and thousands of Scots will cancel their contracts. England and then going home to watch them every week! That’s so embarrassing.”

On Sunday, however, Scotland had a real reason to celebrate: Bob MacIntyre, a golfer from Oban, beat Adam Scott to win the Scottish Open with a stunning showing in North Berwick. For some Hotline callers, this was the perfect end to a dream weekend.

While William Hutchison in Aberdeen said, “Seems England have a different view of ‘IT’S COMING HOME’….WELL DONE TO SCOTS (YUP SCOTS) Bob MacIntyre for lifting the golf tournament trophy at TROON…” Scott Gowers in Edinburgh said, “Congratulations to Spain (Euro’s) and Robert McIntyre (Scottish Open) for their well-deserved wins over the weekend.”

People were also talking about the ongoing mess at Rangers over the availability of Ibrox. One fan demanded that the club be put up for sale right away.Stephen Johnstone of Ardentinny said, “The mess at Ibrox Stadium: players’ contracts are being looked at, the board is split up, and the manager is going on and on.” Now that this government is in charge, is it time to sell the whole club before the bailiffs show up? It was thrown to the ground. Sir John Lawrence would be very angry.

Northampton’s Michael Emonds has also doubts about Philippe Clement’s claim that every player will be sold for the right price as Gers manager. “Could there be a power struggle at Ibrox?” he asked. Big Phil says that every player has a price, and he thinks that custodian Jack Butland is worth £30 million.

“I wonder what chairman John Bennett would do if, say, a £10 million offer came in for Butland. Could we see the chairman going against the group?” I believe Big Phil’s comments about the goalie and the broken vows he made in his job interview about having money to buy players are the first steps of him “working his ticket.”

But Fraserburgh’s Andrew Lamb then pushed back against the bad press about the Belgian boss. He said, “I’m disappointed by all the bad news about Rangers, but it’s all coming from spoiled brats who are so negative.” We won’t be able to judge Clement until after at least a full season.

Rangers to accepts £2m offer – Ibrox Sources

Sam Lammers “doesn’t figure” in the upcoming season’s plans for the Rangers.

Pete O’Rourke, a senior writer for Football Insider, expressed this opinion regarding Lammers’ future at Ibrox Stadium in an interview with the podcast Inside Track.

The 27-year-old was cut by Philippe Clement during the preseason and was sent to the Rangers B club this summer.

It’s an indication of the manager of the Gers’ perspective on the forward, leaving him uncertain about his future in the game.

Although a permanent agreement between the two clubs could not be reached, Lammers spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Utrecht.

The Scottish team is now hoping to make money off of the Dutch forward this summer as Clement has decided not to keep him in the lineup going forward.

Rangers will likely incur losses due to Sam Lammers.

Rangers paid £3.5 million to acquire Lammers from Atalanta at first, but sources claim they won’t recoup their investment.

Rather, the Gers will cut Lammers loose from the books this summer for a cost of £2 million.

The attacker demonstrated his abilities last season while playing for Utrecht, tallying 10 goals and dishing out three assists.

After those Eredivisie performances, sources say Holland would be interested in him, but the player’s future is still unknown.

But with everything going on at Ibrox Stadium, these are equally unsettling times for Rangers as a team.

According to Football Insider, the Gers will now open the season at Hampden Park because their home pitch is still under construction after delays in shipments.

Chris Jack provides an update on Diomande’s injury, following Rangers’ preseason matchup with Standard Liege

Chris Jack reports that Mohamed Diomande, a midfielder for Rangers, is “fine” and has resumed training despite initial concerns that he may have injured himself.

On Wednesday, July 10, the 22-year-old played the first half of the Light Blues’ preseason match against Standard Liege. After going down, he received some treatment, which raised some eyebrows.

Jack, a journalist for Rangers Review, is adamant that the midfield player is injury-free and that he was able to go through the rehabilitation process and do interviews without any more problems.

On July 11, at 19:30, he made the following statement on The Rangers Review YouTube channel: “The only injury doubt or concern, I spoke to Joshua about yesterday, was Mohamed Diomande.”

“I brought up the fact that he left the game and was able to walk back to the dressing room after receiving some treatment late in the first half.

He appeared fine when he chatted with a few members of the press earlier for an interview that would be released during the upcoming games. Thankfully, there aren’t any major worries there as he trained and completed the recovery session earlier.

Do Rangers have any plans to make any additions during the summer transfer window?

The fact that one of their more recent arrivals won’t be missing a significant portion of preseason due to injury is at least encouraging news, even though supporters will be unhappy by the dearth of transfer activity surrounding Ibrox at this time.

Diomande made an impression on both fans and analysts during the previous season after moving to Glasgow in January, and now that he has decided to make Scotland his permanent home, there will be expectations that he can continue to improve and achieve new heights.

The 23-year-old will need to play a lot of football over the coming months because only Connor Barron has arrived as a replacement in midfield after the departures of Ryan Jack and John Lundstram were confirmed earlier this summer.

With any luck, he can avoid injuries and build on his strong start to the previous campaign to truly take off under Philippe Clement.

Still, he and the supporters will be hoping the Gers add one or two more players to help him.

Kieran Dowell lets out his fury with the Rangers as the midfielder gives a brutally honest assessment of his first Ibrox season

After moving to Govan last summer, Dowell had an injury-plagued campaign and found it difficult to give the Ibrox supporters his all.

The first to acknowledge that the Ibrox supporters didn’t see their greatest side last season was Kieran Dowell. primarily because they hardly ever saw him.

The former playmaker for Norwich was supposed to play a major role in Michael Beale’s plan for a Rangers comeback last summer. Instead, a string of ailments derailed his Glasgow debut campaign, and he barely made it onto the supporting cast in Govan. Throughout a season tinged with frustration, he managed just six starts and ten substitute appearances overall.

There were times when it appeared he was going to make the kind of impact Beale had in mind when he brought the former Carrow Road apprentice north. A goal on Christmas Eve against Motherwell turned out to be the ideal present as new manager Philippe Clement battled a horrific injury list.

He helped the Gers come back from a two-goal deficit in April’s 3-3 Old Firm draw at Ibrox, and his performance off the bench was critical in turning that derby thriller around. However, all of those events turned out to be brief high points in a season that culminated in Celtic defeating Celtic in both the league and the Scottish Cup.

Now, as the Rangers prepare for the upcoming season, Dowell hopes to leave a more profound imprint on the fan base. After Standard Liege’s preseason bounce game, he stated, “I’d like to think there is more to come from me.”

“Last season, I didn’t start many games. It was, I believe, four or five games. Additionally, not many people appeared. They haven’t seen my finest side. In actuality, they haven’t seen much of me.

“Perhaps they succeed in the upcoming season. It was just so frustrating, my first year. Really annoying. Being a central midfielder, a position I hadn’t really played before, I was obviously learning a new one. That was because of things like availability, but it was really annoying that injuries occurred in between.

However, I feel better now. I feel rejuvenated, having rested well over the summer, and I’m in peak physical condition right now. I recall beating Motherwell, things were going great, and then I took another hit. That’s football for you, though, is how it happened.

You may pout all you want about it, but it happened, and now that it’s over, I feel strong once more. What can I rely on during those times? Everybody in the club. These guys are excellent at keeping you in your place. They will either put you down if you’re getting ahead of yourself or encourage you to keep going if you’re not. That set of guys is excellent for that. Of course, my friends and family also provided a lot of assistance.

After that thrilling match, Dowell left the ground with Celtic thinking he had saved the Green Bay Packers from a jail sentence. His club had trailed the team led by Brendan Rodgers by two goals on both occasions before rallying behind goals from Abdullah Sima and a Rabbi Matondo scream.

The next week, he was rewarded for his efforts with an unusual start at Ross County. However, the Dingwall loss had far-reaching effects beyond Rangers’ hopes of winning the league.

“It was clearly a difficult day for every player on the pitch,” he remarked. Although I started the game, I don’t believe anyone else played particularly well that day. That causes you to suffer in the end, but that’s the nature of football. The only thing left to do after being kicked off the team is to continue training and working hard.

The depressing atmosphere that pervaded Ibrox at the close of the previous season has hardly subsided, and new controversy has arisen after it was revealed Clement’s team may need to leave Ibrox for several weeks due to a building error on the Copland Road.

All of that has increased the pressure on the Light Blues as they attempt to strike a balance between their two very important goals—qualifying for the Champions League and getting a head start in the Premiership. Even though Dowell has only been in Glasgow for a year, it’s enough time to realise that if either of those goals is compromised, there will be a massive meltdown. However, he has also learnt from the previous season how crucial it is to avoid exaggerating a small setback.

The most important lesson, he continued, is to understand that we are never truly done. Everyone believes it’s finished after our disappointing start to the season and the departure of the manager who signed me. It appears to be finished when you see the Press, but it wasn’t.

By season’s end, it was back in our possession. As a result, you never know when to give up. Should we aim for a quicker start this season?

“Ideally no, but even in that case, you’re still in it. In my first season, I guess I thought we were done, but we weren’t. Of course you want to get off to a quick start, but the season is lengthy.

Dowell checked in last summer as one of nine new additions. Clement is making sure he assists the summer recruits in settling in. He has added five this time so far, but more are planned.

“I always try to welcome the new lads,” he remarked. It’s a fantastic organisation for that kind of activity, I believe. Many boys have recently joined, and it’s encouraging to see everyone putting in a lot of effort on the pitch.

“After taking a quick break and cleaning up, the guys are back on track and ready to go after it. For this club, every season is undoubtedly crucial, but maybe we can succeed.

Even though Clement wasn’t the one who signed him, Dowell is content with the tight relationship he has with his Belgian manager right now. Regarding the positive indicators he observes in his relationship with Clement, he remarked, “I believe it is the quantity of times he uses me.

“He is an excellent trainer who provides you with a lot of assistance. I’ve learned a lot from him about assuming new positions as a centre midfielder. I’m glad he’s already added a couple strings to my bow. He pushes you to try new things and wants you to play. He’s an effective manager.

£3.5 million release clause surfaces as Rangers in advanced negotiations for a new acquisition claims

To surpass Fenerbahce to his signature, Rangers will have to pay Adama Traore’s £3.5 million release clause, according to AfricaFoot.

Writing on their website (7 July), the news source notes that the Mali winger has been in “advanced talks” [AfricaFoot, 26 May], but now Jose Mourinho’s team presents fierce competition.

According to reports, the 29-year-old has a release clause in his contract and Ferencvaros are ready to sell to the best bidder, so Philippe Clement might have to approve paying the whole price.

Rangers still need attacking choices at Ibrox until 2024/25.

With six players now confirmed as fresh team members, Clement and Rangers have been somewhat busy in the summer window.

Although Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly, Hamza Igamane, Oscar Cortes have already put pen to paper, the squad is nowhere near as strong as it should be when the season opens next month.

Attack is an area that particularly requires additions with the future of Cyriel Dessers up in the air [Chris Jack, 3 July], Sam Lammers most likely to leave and significant questions regarding Todd Cantwell [The Sun, 20 June], Scott Wright and Tom Lawrence also.

Rangers Philippe Clement

Philippe Clement is likely to be frustrated at Rangers

Traore would bring experience to the team and having won medals in the past, it may well be the kind of signing required to support a youthful squad along in a race.

However, Rangers will have to act fast or miss another target this summer since Mourinho is now definitely in the battle for his signature.

Clement’s must-have goals, the latest on transfers, and his choices for strikers – Chris Jack Talks About It

Rangers are one week closer to being able to play again now that another week of summer is over.Philippe Clement’s team will spend the next few days at a training camp in Holland as they ramp up their preparations for the new season. Soon, they will have a lot of games to play, so they need to be ready to go right away.

Recently, the deal for Hamza Igamane has been the main topic of conversation. There has also been a lot of talk about a move for Kenny McLean. Off the field, fans are still waiting to find out where Clement’s team will play their home games in August.

Ibrox is always busy, even when the week isn’t very busy. Chris Jack takes some questions from readers of Rangers Review here.

Are we planning to put money into younger players and use loans to help them gain experience?

When the manager recently spoke to RangersTV, he talked about the need for experienced players, which is a sign of things to come during the next part of the window. The deals that brought in Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, and Oscar Cortes were made with the long term in mind, but they need to perform this season. Don’t forget that Clement is building up both a team and a group.

The loan market is something that Rangers could use, but those moves are more likely to be the finishing touches than the building blocks. According to the example given, signing McLean would not cost a lot of money but would give the team the experience it needs.

Rangers have a lot going on right now. There will be a mix of short-term and long-term deals, with younger players with promise and older players with experience. This mix is important for Clement because any move he makes will have sports and money effects.

How many players do we need to sign if Dessers leaves?

I think it will be one in and one out. From this week’s Rangers Review, we learned that teams in Saudi Arabia, France, and Spain, along with PAOK, were all interested in Dessers. Fans have different feelings about the striker, but most wouldn’t mind if the £4.5 million fee and his salary were used to buy another forward.

Clement will be careful with Danilo because he just got back to the team after hurting his knee. We don’t know enough about Igamane yet to say whether he will be a big hit right away or whether it will take him some time to get used to Ibrox.

That does give Clement a problem to solve because August is going to be very busy and important. Rangers must get a centre forward with a lot of experience. Since Clement only uses one player in the middle, it would be strange for him to add a fourth choice for that spot. In the last third, it will be up to other people to participate.

Do you believe Danilo has been missed as a No. 10 or second striker?

People were pretty excited when Danilo was signed last summer, and a lot of that energy was fair since a Brazilian forward had just been bought for £6 million. Fans are still interested in Danilo a year later, but this time for a different reason.

As was already said, it would be unfair to expect too much from him too soon. Also, any player who has surgery to repair a cruciate knee ligament and then has to go through the necessary therapy needs to get back in shape. Still, Clement needs Danilo to help out and score some goals this season.

Rangers will put money into the key spot, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if players like Todd Cantwell and Tom Lawrence left. Danilo was signed as a No. 9, which is what he will do most of the time. Clement shouldn’t move him a little lower; instead, he should make him stronger at No. 10 and then, hopefully, decide who leads the line.

Could they still be sold, even if they are in training camp next week?

There are times when it’s easier to just let people go. During the window, a lot of names have been thrown around as possible exits, but nothing is certain until there is money and contracts on the table. Things do need to move a little faster, though.

Rangers can’t play with a big team. In terms of football or money, it doesn’t make sense, and Clement won’t want players who aren’t in his plans to stay in the locker room for too long.

Supporters shouldn’t worry too much about who is going to Holland yet because the window is still pretty open. Things can happen very quickly, and players and managers can make things happen when they recognise what is going on. Going on the plane doesn’t mean you’ll be in the group when the window ends.

Are we going to get a right center-back?

This part of the team still has a lot of work to do. According to the Rangers Review, the deal for Jose Cordoba fell through a few weeks ago. Nsiala is the only centre back that has been signed so far. Since there are a lot of people in that spot, that might not be a surprise.

It was easy to deal with Leon Balogun, and he meets a lot of criteria, but he is not a normal starter. If the right deal comes in, the club will sell Connor Goldson. Ben Davies and Leon King also look like they are not needed by the team. At least one person has to come in if three leave.

John Souttar didn’t have a great season, but he did well overall and will try to win that spot in the position where he is most comfortable. Many people were wondering why he was so reliable when it came to selection last season. However, he is not promised a jersey because a right-sided recruit is expected to arrive.

What do you think makes a player experienced? Someone between the ages of 24 and 26 who has played a few seasons or someone over 30? Or maybe someone who has played X number of first-team games at a good level since they made their start when they were young?

As the time has gone on at Ibrox, the experience factor has become more important. It makes sense when you look at the backgrounds of some of the candidates. Cortes has only played a few games in a blue shirt and Nsiala hasn’t played a first team game. Jefte has also not played at this level before. Igamane is an unknown quantity and can’t be judged on paper, as was said above.

In general, I don’t think people should care too much about how old a recruit is. A player can get the skills and information he needs in just a few seasons if he works with good professionals and at a high level.

As long as most of your games don’t come off the bench at the last minute, you should know your way around by the time you’ve played, say, 100 games. In the end, each case must be looked at separately.

What do you think is a reasonable goal for the coming season, given how many changes are being made to the team and how little money we have for what is basically a complete rebuild? Do you think Clement will get the same amount of time as Gerrard for it?

Rangers will not give up on winning the Premiership title. It will always be that way. People think that a season is a failure if the trophies are not at Ibrox at the end of it. Even if the Scottish Cup had been won last year, Clement would have been criticised for not being able to lead his team to victory in the top flight.

Things are very different now than they were when Gerrard took over. It would be crazy to keep Clement in charge for a third try at the title if the Rangers fail this time. That might not be fair, given what he walked into. That’s just how things are at Ibrox, though.

Rangers need to stop hiring and firing managers and putting together new teams that don’t do well. The dugout and dressing room need to be stable for the club. That doesn’t mean you should stick with a plan that isn’t working, and this term Clement and these players have a lot to show. No one else will know that better than him.
