Daniel Kelly transfer interest from German duo as Celtic keen to secure new deal

Daniel Kelly is attracting transfer interest from England and Germany after his Celtic breakthrough, according to a report.

The midfielder, 18, scored his first Hoops goal during the 7-1 win over Dundee and it’s thought he has the potential to be a star of the future. Celtic are keen to get him tied down on a new deal but it’s being reported they face serious competition from Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig and unnamed clubs in England.

Kelly’s current deal runs out on December 31 this year and that means he would be able to open discussions with other clubs about a pre-contract move in the summer, if nothing is signed by then. The Daily Mail claims Parkhead chiefs have started the progress of discussing new terms to try and fend off interest.

Celts would be due training compensation but that would be cut-price and would be a further blow after losing rising star Ben Doak to Liverpool on the cheap.

The youngster has the same agent that brokered a deal taking Jeremie Frimpong to Leverkusen from Celtic.

Kelly has starred in the Lowland League for the B team and was given a chance to go on the first team’s pre-season camp last summer, before getting subs’ appearances this campaign.

Speaking about the player, Brendan Rodgers said: “He’s a young player that I’ve loved working with since I came back. He came with us on pre-season to Portugal and he has this incredible attitude.

“He’s 17 years of age and you can see physically how developed he is – his power, his speed, his touch. He is only going to get better and part of the idea and strategy here is to allow these young players to come in and develop.

“The squad is so big that sometimes the younger players get left to the side. He’s an example that, when there is room for them to come in and train with you, you’ll see the rewards from that.

“Him and Rocco Vata have been training. Rocco maybe hasn’t had the game time so much but he’s been equally as impressive.”

Pundit tears into SPFL coach as Celtic star ‘will not play’ for the club again

A pundit had some harsh words for a Scottish Premiership manager as a Celtic star has reportedly played his last game for the club.

Another Edinburgh derby is in the books. This time, the spoils were shared between Hibs and Hearts, thanks to goals from Emiliano Marcondes and Lawrence Shankland – let’s take a look at what is happening around the Scottish Premiership.

A manager in the SPFL has been lambasted by a pundit after another defeat – meanwhile, another believes that a Celtic player has played his ‘last game’ for the Hoops.

Willie Miller tears into Aberdeen boss Neil Warnock over poor run of results

Suffice to say, Willie Miller is not happy with Neil Warnock’s Aberdeen tenure thus far. He dressed down the former Sheffield United manager, ridiculing his tactics and questioning his commitment to the club.

Speaking after the game on BBC Scotland, Miller said: “The Motherwell selection with [Jamie] McGrath playing at left wing back was incredible! And I said that before the game. I’m saying ‘what’s going on here?’ There seems to be an experiment every game.

“You expect any new manager to in their and get a bounce but there hasn’t been one. And some of his comments that he’s up here to have a bit of fun – that doesn’t sit right. He’s an experienced manager. He should know the players he’s got and have an idea of what he wants to do when he’s up here.”

Frank McAvennie thinks Liel Abada has played his last game for Celtic

Pundit Frank McAvennie believes that Liel Abada has played his last game for Celtic – he expressed his sympathies to the Israeli international in a recent interview.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said: “If Abada was there, I’d put him in the team. If I could trust him to go and play and to get all the noise out of his head, then he should play. I just don’t think there’s any way back for him now, that is it.

“I’d love to see the boy, but I haven’t got any time for people who want to bring politics into football. You go to games to get away from that. I feel for Abada because there are supporters that love him and some that are going against him. It must be hard for the boy.”
