Fabrizio Romano Confirms Deal Reached with Chelsea

Chelsea is currently the subject of a great deal of conjecture. We watched the team develop last season, placing fourth in the Premier League and winning the Conference League to add to their trophy cupboard, their first since the change of ownership. That being said, it would be a mistake to ignore the reality that the Blues’ performance in the second half of the season has been far weaker than in the first. Based on their 2025 results, they are ranked seventh.

Chelsea began the season on a good note, looking like Premier League contenders. However, all of the hype surrounding that team has now dissipated.

Enzo Maresca has failed to bring out the best in Cole Palmer, and Malo Gusto appears to be a ghost of his former self in the Italian system. There are numerous worrying indications all around, and the Blues must not overlook them. Instead, they must focus on building strength this summer.

Chelsea are now missing a right-footed winger. Jadon Sancho has left, and Mykhailo Mudryk may not be available anytime soon, leaving the Blues limited on choices. Jamie Gittens is said to be their priority target, but rumours have surfaced that Bayern Munich wants to recruit him.

Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the scenario between Gittens and Chelsea. He said this on his YouTube channel:

Bynoe-Gittens and Chelsea have reached an agreement for a seven-year contract. Now working club by club to strike an agreement with Borussia Dortmund. So, Chelsea will continue to work on this transaction, advance it, and view Bynoe-Gittens as a top target this summer.”
So, while Bayern Munich has been associated with Gittens, and Chelsea has been linked with a few other wingers, it appears like the Blues are still working on a deal with and prioritising the Borussia Dortmund youngster when it comes to recruiting a right-footed winger. Let’s see if they can reach a club-to-club deal shortly.

Chelsea must exercise caution not to overpay, as they have done with so many players in recent years, which is why they are failing to compete at the highest level despite investing more than a billion dollars in the squad. Their last offer for Gittens was thought to be over €55 million.
