“It takes two to tango”: Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Kilde express gratitude in a passionate social media post
Just weeks after the double Olympic champion scored his record-breaking 100th career victory, the Alpine skiing power couple wrote a heartfelt thanks post for one another.
Alpine skiing’s golden pair, Mikaela Shiffrin and Alexander Aamodt Kilde, are loyal supporters of each other.
Shiffrin, who won her 100th World Cup in February by winning a women’s slalom event in Italy, expressed her love and admiration for fiancé Kilde in a poignant Instagram post.
“It’s time for a @akilde appreciation post…” This has been a difficult season on many levels, but this guy puts things in perspective. His positive attitude and energy while dealing with his personal injuries and ongoing recovery have been an inspiration to me and many others. “I’m so thankful that I can hold his love in my heart 🫶😊💗,” she added.
Kilde, who is just healing from another shoulder surgery, answered, “🥺 It takes two to tango ❤️”, to which Shiffrin reacted with several’melting face’ emojis and another heart.
Injuries have hampered their seasons, including American Shiffrin’s abdominal puncture after a collision in November 2024. The Norwegian skier did not compete in the 2024/25 World Cup season due to injuries.
Despite their challenges, the two ski legends continue to inspire each other as they prepare for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina.

Mikaela Shiffrin and her fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, were recently spotted spending quality time together after months of distance. The couple reconnected on June 25, when Shiffrin returned to Norway after a brief trip following the World Cup finals in late March.
Shiffrin was last seen competing on March 27 in the women’s slalom event, where she won her 101st World Cup title at the World Cup Finals in Sun Valley, Idaho. She is now preparing for the 2025-26 Alpine skiing season, although her fiancé, Kilde, has yet to return to the slopes following a crash in January 2024.
The pair has been apart for several months due to surgery, events, rehabilitation, and other reasons; however, they have recently reconnected and have been posting several updates on social media. Most recently, the couple was seen spending quality time together when the American skier tweeted a photo of them posing outside a nice restaurant, with the caption reading:
“Summer Lovin’ 💛

“It’s difficult to be apart so frequently and for so long. The last time @akilde and I were together was in March, following the World Cup Final. For the time being, this is a necessary component of our work. Mikaela Shiffrin tweeted, “Never take for granted the time we have together!🫶.”

Mikaela Shiffrin returned to the slopes in January 2025 after a tragic crash at Killington, where she got a puncture wound in November 2024. A few days after her comeback, the American made history with her 100th World Cup victory. She accomplished this extraordinary achievement on February 23 in Sestriere, Italy, defeating Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutic and Paula Moltzan to win.
Shortly after this impressive performance, Shiffrin’s fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, paid tribute to the skier on Instagram. Uploading a charming photo of them, he captioned it with joy in the skier’s accomplishment and referred to her as the GOAT.
“Sorry Mikaela, I know you hate the GOAT talk – but sometimes your man should be allowed to brag 🐐. Today you hit your 100th World Cup victory – wow!” I’m really proud of you, and good luck to anybody tries to follow that record. 😆 But what shines out even more is who you are every day, which is far more important than any number of achievements. “It’s just a number,” he wrote.
“On another note, I watched this from a hospital bed – just after a planned and (hopefully 🤞🏻) my last shoulder surgery,” Kilde told reporters.
