On Monday morning, prayers are needed for the renowned American Winter Olympian, Miakaela Shiffrin.

One of the most talented Alpine skiers in American history is 29-year-old Shiffrin. Despite occasionally having trouble at the Olympics, she has the most World Cup victories of any alpine skier in history. Despite not winning any at the 2022 Games, Colorado native Shiffrin has three Olympic medals: two gold and one silver.

However, the five-time Overall World Cup champion is currently having difficulties. Earlier this season, Shiffrin was involved in a terrifying collision. She has now declared that she will not be going back to compete in the Alpine skiing world championships, where she took home a gold medal the previous year.

Shiffrin has been coping with anxiety and depression.

Shiffrin declared on Monday morning that she would not be competing in the Alpine skiing world championships to defend her giant slalom gold medal. The 99-time World Cup champion suffered severe injuries to her oblique muscles after a hard crash at an event in Killington, Vermont, on November 30.

Shiffrin told the Associated Press on Monday, “I’m mentally blocked in being able to get to the next level of pace and speed and putting power into the turns.” And I didn’t expect that kind of mental, psychological, PTSD-like struggle.

“I assumed that after we landed in Europe and had the opportunity to train repeatedly, I would be able to get better little by little, and that my desire and enthusiasm for racing would eventually overcome any fears I had.”

On Monday, Shiffrin made the final decision public.

She posted on Instagram, saying, “To be honest, I really didn’t expect to have so much of this kind of mental/PTSD struggle in GS from my injury.”

As she handles this, prayers are pouring in for her.

Sincere remarks—you never cease to inspire! Do you. It’s sufficient. One fan wrote, “We always have your back. 😍.”

“You are even more incredible because of your vulnerability and honesty. One fan went on, “Just bring those disco legs to Saalbach x.”

“Very much respect. It’s crucial to align your body and mind. Both must be prepared and strong. You’ve got plenty of time! We’ll all be here to support you. “🌟💯,” a fan added.

“You are courageous beyond words and your vulnerability is a gift to many ❤️🫶,” a supporter wrote.

Shiffrin shared all of her remarks on Instagram.

In some way, Shiffrin will continue to compete. She has made the decision to compete in Tuesday’s Worlds’ new team combined event. Breezy Johnson and she will compete together, with one skier running a slalom and the other a downhill run.

“Neither in giant slalom nor in slalom am I at my maximum potential,” Shiffrin stated. “But in slalom, I feel fine enough.”
