Lions WR Reacts to Contract Extension: ‘I Found a Home Here’
Jameson Williams is grateful to be with the Detroit Lions for the foreseeable future.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is excited to be a part of the team’s future for the next several seasons.
After signing a three-year agreement worth up to $83 million, the former first-round pick is signed until the end of the 2029 NFL season.
Williams discussed his thoughts on his extension and his connection to the Detroit city with reporters after practice on Thursday.
“I found a home here,” Williams explained. “I feel very at ease with the staff and my brothers, with whom I play and go to war every week. So, it was the major point. My brothers arrived. My brothers were on my thoughts, and I was thinking of going out and fighting them. I wouldn’t want to do it if no one else did. By the way, we practise and compete with each other all year. So, yeah, that was the important issue.”
Dan Campbell expressed happiness that the team was able to finalise Williams’ contract early.

“Yes, it is good. “As long as you can get that business side out of the way, it’s fine,” Campbell added. “We had hoped it would be done sooner, but that is not always the case. I’m glad we got it done. Jamo has come a long way, and we expect much more from him. It’s good.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide wideout has established himself in Detroit, hosting charity events on a regular basis and spending time with supporters and fans.
“I just enjoy the culture of Detroit.” When I arrived, things were not going well in the city. “You know, losing games, not winning,” Williams explained. “And it has been going upward ever since I arrived here. Thus, the culture has altered. I wouldn’t say it changed because it has always been like that. Since my first year, when we finished 1-5, the games have always been packed. And we turned it around; the game has been selling out.”
Williams stated that he has never had an unpleasant interaction with a fan of the team and has never declined requests to take photos or sign autographs.
“The City — while you walk around the city, many admirers approach you and ask for photos and autographs. “I’ve never had a bad interaction with a fan or anyone,” Williams stated. “I never decline a fan’s request for a picture or autograph. So, I just adore the City. I enjoy the city’s culture. It’s not really different from where I’m from. There are many similarities between things. So I’m just comfy.”
