Louisville basketball recruits Mikel Brown Jr. and Sananda Fru have committed to play for Pat Kelsey in 2025.

Arizona State has signed Mikel Brown Jr. and Sananda Fru, both from the Class of 2025.

Louisville basketball was in a terrible state last spring, so coach Pat Kelsey has already made a huge difference in his first year on the job.

Step 2 in his comeback: keep up the good work. The first step is to find new employees.

Last fall’s early signing period was pretty quiet, but since the new year, the Cardinals have made some noise by adding Mikkel Brown Jr. and Sananda Fru to their 2025 class.

Mikel Brown Jr.

DME Academy is a school and team in Daytona Beach, Florida.

What you need to know:All four major recruiting services rank Brown as one of the top three point guards in the country. He is Louisville’s 29th McDonald’s All-American and a consensus five-star prospect. The 6-foot-3 floor general didn’t tell anyone about his signing until the Cards beat North Carolina on New Year’s Day. A person familiar with the talks said he signed a seven-figure deal for his name, picture, and likeness. He played in 30.2 minutes per game and scored 24.2 points on 49% shooting (43.9% from three). He also had 3.2 assists, 3.3 mistakes, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals.

Sananda Fru

Löwen Braunschweig is a school and team in Braunschweig, Germany.)

What you need to know:In Germany’s top-level Basketball Bundesliga, Fru, who is 6 feet 11 inches tall and 245 pounds, destroys hoops. Since 2021, the 21-year-old has played in the league. He also played for his country’s U20 team in the European Championships of 2022 and 2023. The Courier Journal was told by someone close to the school that he “should” have two years of college eligibility when he gets to Louisville. In 16 games (15 starts), Fru has scored 10.4 points, grabbed 4.7 rebounds, and blocked 1.5 shots per game for Löwen Braunschweig this season.He put his name in early for the 2023 NBA Draft, but later took it out of the running.Hey.
