Meet The Warning: Three(3) Amazing Sisters From Mexico Taking the Rock World By Storm (Exclusive)
Dany, Paulina, and Alejandra Villarreal maintain the momentum of a big 2024 with an exciting release that fans have been demanding for years.
I NEED TO KNOW
The Warning began as children in 2013 and have now grown to become rock stars. Dany, Paulina, and Alejandra Villarreal claim that being in a band with their sisters is “a gift from the universe” The band’s year of rigorous touring culminates with a North American leg and the publication of their debut live record and concert DVD “Live from Auditorio Nacional CDMX”.
The Warning, based in Monterrey, Mexico, consists of three sisters: Dany (guitar and lead singer), Paulina (drummer), and Alejandra (bass) Villarreal. The band, formed in 2013, has erupted in recent years, with singles including “MORE” and “Six Feet Deep.”
The Warning has a lifelong passion for music, beginning with classical piano and later transitioning to headbanging influenced by Rock Band.
Around 2013, the sisters began posting cover songs on YouTube. Their popularity soared with their cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” which has garnered 26 million views. In 2015, they went on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and received funding for a five-week music training program at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dany, Paulina, and Alejandra were 14, 12, and 9 years old when the explosion occurred. With their newfound fame, the sisters were encouraged to start writing their own songs, which they attribute with turning The Warning into a career rather than a fun endeavor.
Despite how terrifying pursuing music may be, even for adults, The Warning had less concern going in, thanks to the fact that they were youngsters. Dany recalls, “We were literally given a blank canvas and told, ‘Hey, do whatever you want.'” We were like, ‘Yay. Okay.’ ” Paulina, 23, continued, “You don’t comprehend the ideas of public opinion, putting yourself out there and not being warmly welcomed. “You don’t see that at all.”
Fortunately, The Warning adjusted well to their new life as rock stars, which resulted in an even stronger and deeper sibling connection. Paulina describes their love as “a gift from the universe.”
She explains, “We experience unique aspects of our jobs that are difficult to explain to others.” The individuals I love the most see me and understand exactly what I’m going through.”

The sisters’ genuine love and passion for each other is obvious, both on Zoom and on stage.
The Warning takes great pride in their ability to rock socks off. It contributes significantly to their ability to establish themselves in a male-dominated genre that occasionally treats women as outsiders.
The Warning thrives on the challenge, as Paulina explains: “You step on stage and you give a kick-ass show, and it’s just such a satisfying feeling of, ‘Hah! Look!'”
Despite their expanding popularity and unrivaled ambition, The Warning remain grounded, relying on simple yet vital counsel for success: “Always keep being kind.”
“In the industry… the whole base of everything is connecting with people,” says Dany, 25, to PEOPLE. “Every day we meet new folks. Every stage has a distinct crew from that venue or festival, and [being courteous] goes a long way.”
The band prioritized having fun while making their most recent album, Keep Me Fed, which was released over a year ago.

“We’ve always taken ourselves very seriously, trying to prove that we are songwriters and prove that we are musicians — that’s what happens when you’re a woman in rock,” Paulina recounts. “We were able to relax a little because we were with other writers who were telling us, ‘But what do you mean you feel like you have to prove something?'” You’re here, you’re creating this record, and it’s your music. That is already enough proof.”
Writing with others was a significant step for The Warning on Keep Me Fed. Alejandra, 20, stated, “It was hard at first, but we really enjoy it now.” Sharing ideas with other individuals is a lot of fun. Everyone works differently, and it’s fascinating to see how they do so.”
Since the album’s release, The Warning hasn’t had much time to reflect, as they’ve been traveling nonstop in 2024 and 2025. The band completed a headlining tour in the US last fall and returned early this year to support Halsey on her And For My Last Trick Tour for nine gigs. They also supported Evanescence and Alvvays before another headline tour in July.
The band describes Halsey as “involved in everything.” It’s a feature the sisters recognize in themselves, and they felt validated seeing their art on such a vast scale. “It felt great to say, ‘Okay, we’re not insane. People work like this. “It’s awesome,” Paulina confesses.
Despite the “Without Me” singer’s more pop-oriented sound, The Warning adapted seamlessly. “It was a lovely challenge going up to an audience who normally doesn’t listen to this type of music and having them like you at the end of the show,” Paulina confides.
The band’s ability to captivate an audience live has always been one of its strong points. “For you to be in the audience, the way the audio is mixed, the way we play, the way we perform… it’s not like we’re karaoke machines! We execute them and connect with the people in front of us,” explains Alejandra, while Dany adds, “That energy exchange is everything.”
The Warning’s new live album, Live from Auditorio Nacional CDMX, and concert video, available in select theaters beginning Thursday, Aug. 21, aim to recreate the excitement of the show. (Watch an exclusive sneak glimpse of “Automatic Sun” above.)
The band characterized the recording and filming of the Feb. 11 event as “nerve-wracking,” with Alejandra commenting, “We worked so hard from everything to arranging the show, the lights, the production, and the clothes… “I believe this is the first time we’ve had such a large team work on a project.”
The concert film and live record were highly anticipated by the band’s fans, so they went to great lengths to produce them.
“Our fans have been clamoring for this for 11 years. The band’s success with Keep Me Fed and three sold-out gigs at Auditorio Nacional was a pivotal moment in their careers, as they tell PEOPLE.

Despite the awe-inspiring event, The Warning still don’t believe they’ve “made it”—at least not permanently. They want to advance much further.
“We always just want to keep growing,” Paulina says. Alejandra concurs: “Our goals are so huge that I think that our rockstar moment will be like, ‘Will we sell stadiums throughout the whole world?'”
Despite its lofty goals, The Warning’s strategy for achieving them is straightforward. It’s the same one that got them here to begin with. According to Paulina, “We’ve always had the same goal, which is make music, share it.”
