Mikaela Shiffrin’s Fiance Provides Update on Wedding Plans Ahead of the 2025-26 Ski Season
Mikaela Shiffrin’s fiancé, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, has provided an update on their wedding plans ahead of the 2025-26 ski season. While Shiffrin has been named to the USA’s alpine skiing A squad for the upcoming season, Kilde is making a return to the Norwegian national team.
He had not competed in the World Cup circuit since a life-threatening crash at a downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland, on January 13, 2024, that necessitated him to be flown to a hospital.
What Update Did Mikaela Shiffrin’s Fiance Provide Regarding Wedding Plans with the American?
In April 2024, Shiffrin and Kilde announced their engagement on Instagram, with photographs of the American showing off her engagement ring.
In an interview with Austrian tabloid Krone, Kilde was asked about wedding preparations. He stated that there is no set date yet, but that it may happen after the Olympics, depending on conditions such as retirement, noting:
“Maybe after the Olympics, if one of us retires or something, then we’ll have time to party.”
In the same interview, Kilde discussed how their connection grew following his terrible injuries in the Wengen crash. He recalls Shiffrin spending the night with him in the hospital, which was significant to him despite the circumstances. During that moment, he recognised her as “the woman of my life” and decided he wanted to ask her to marry him.
Notably, Kilde has totally recovered from his injuries suffered last year. Kilde is an excellent skier with 21 World Cup victories and two Olympic medals, including silver in the combined and bronze in the Super-G event. Shiffrin is one of the greatest skiers of all time, with 101 World Cup wins.
Shiffrin Writes Heartfelt Note for Fiance Kilde’s 33rd Birthday.
Shiffrin wrote a heartfelt greeting for fiancé Aleksander Kilde’s 33rd birthday. While the two were not together to commemorate the anniversary, the Colorado-born skier stated that she looked forward to spending it with him soon. She shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram.
“We had to fly across the world for our birthdays this year… Anyway, I can’t wait to congratulate you soon! Happy birthday, King Aleksander👑 @akilde ❤️. “I love you!”
Kilde responded to the post with heart emojis and added “❤️❤️❤️”
