‘No contact – Bruno Guimaraes reveals the truth about Barcelona’s transfer and nails colours to Newcastle mast

Bruno Guimaraes delighted the Barcelona press pack but made his emotions known about Newcastle with a superb restaurant comment.

Bruno Guimaraes’ appearance at yesterday night’s press conference drew attention from the visiting Barcelona press pack due to his previous interest in joining the La Liga club.

The Newcastle captain might have easily taken advantage of the circumstance to play for a future move to Barcelona, but he masterfully nailed his colours to the United mast while simultaneously charming the visiting Catalan journalists!

Marca, Mundo Deportivo, Sport, and El Periódico were also in attendance, with Bruno speaking in Spanish to travelling journalists and a translator providing quotes in Catalan.

However, after being questioned for the first time about Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool last night, Bruno refused to entertain any suggestions of a move elsewhere, claiming that Newcastle was his home now.

When asked by Barcelona reporters if he ever considered signing for the five-time European winners, Bruno replied, “There was never any contact.”

“When I was a youngster, I used to watch Barcelona.

“In Brazil, we watched a lot of La Liga, and I’ve always admired Barcelona.”

“They were the players that inspired me to love football. Ronaldinho is the person I remember the most.

“Then came Messi, Neymar, Suárez, and Iniesta… “I can’t wait to play Barcelona now.”

But for Bruno, it’s all about Newcastle, and he joked: “I never thought I’d go to a restaurant and not pay the bill. I enjoy it, to be honest. I’ve always had faith in my coworkers.

“We’ve been together for years, and everything has been wonderful.”

Bruno was then asked if he aspired to win the Champions League in Newcastle colours, to which he replied: “In the future, that’s something we’ll be striving for.

“But for the time being, we don’t want to limit our dreams; instead, we want to take each game as it comes and see what we have.

“But we’re very excited, and hope we can go as far as possible.”

“I always look forward to creating history with this team. It’s great to be in the Champions League twice in the previous three seasons; it’s incredible for us, so we have to keep pushing.”

Bruno will now be looking for a strong showing against the second-placed La Liga team.

As a couple of Barcelona journalists made their way up to observe the team practice at St James’ Park, they were discussing their presentation to their separate desks and appeared to be playing up the Bruno lines, commenting: “Cosas bonitas,” which translates to “Nice stuff.”

Given Bruno’s name was in lights this morning in Marca with a headline reading: ‘Barcelona made me fall in love with football’, the Spanish media appeared satisfied with a night’s job as they left for what could be deemed a pleasant autumn night on Tyneside!

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona players will be able to say the same later, but Bruno warned: “Barca are one of the best teams in the world, and we will have to fight to the last second to get the win.”
