No NFL team had ever done this before the Lions pulled off their Week 10 comeback
On Sunday night, the Detroit Lions played one of their worst games in more than two seasons. The Lions trailed the Texans 23-7 at halftime due to self-inflicted wounds, poor offensive performance, and a strong opponent in Houston.
Then it occurred. Detroit pulled off a miraculous comeback, thanks to two interceptions by cornerback Carlton Davis and an offence that adjusted to the Texans’ fast and playmaking defence.
How unusual was the Lions’ comeback? Consider this information from The 33rd Team:
Since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, the Lions are the first team to overcome a 15-point deficit while throwing five or more interceptions.
No team has ever shot itself in the foot so badly and then recovered to win a game, not since at least five years before Dan Campbell or Brad Holmes were born.
