“Ridiculous” verdicts from four lads as Jack Butland’s departure from Rangers is talked about
Stevie Clifford of the Four Lads Had a Dream podcast said that Rangers would only think about letting Jack Butland leave this summer if someone made a “ridiculous” offer close to £15 million.
Clifford talked about the upcoming free transfer of Motherwell custodian Liam Kelly to Ibrox on the Rangers Review with Chris Jack on 19 June. He made it clear that Kelly would be Butland’s first choice.
Because of how well Butland played last season, there were rumours that he might be leaving Glasgow this summer. But Clifford is sure that he’ll still be at the club for the next season.
Clifford said, “I don’t think Jack Butland will leave this summer. I’m pretty sure he’ll stay.”
“They can change their mind if someone offers £15 million.” Rangers will have to pay more than £10 million for them to seriously consider it.
“Kelly is coming in to give us competition and support.” When it comes to second choice, he’s a no-brainer, but I think Jack Butland will be number one at the start of the season unless some crazy offer comes in.
The transfer of Liam Kelly won’t put Jack Butland’s job at the Rangers in danger.
Philippe Clement is already making a lot of changes to the team at Ibrox this summer to try to build a title-winning team, but Butland will still be his first choice custodian [Chris Sutton].
Butland kept an amazing 18 Premiership clean sheets last season, earning the Golden Glove award. He was so good for the Light Blues that he almost got called up to England.
Because of his good play, there was talk that English Premier League or Championship teams might want to sign the 30-year-old and move him south of the border. But Clement will do everything he can to stop that from happening [Chris Jack].
Liam Kelly will arrive at Ibrox as back-up for Jack Butland
Clifford thinks he’ll still be a Gers player in August because he wants a “ridiculous” offer for their best player. He even thinks Butland could become the next captain of the club.
Kelly’s experience will help Clement make a clear alternative to Butland, but the Belgian will be hard-pressed to accept anything other than Butland playing in goal for their team next season [TeamTalk].
Rangers are almost done making a deal for a player in high demand – Chris Jack
Chris Jack says that the Rangers have won the race to sign Connor Barron.
Jack writes in the Rangers Review (June 18) that the Gers beat out Italy and England to get the Scotland Under-21 international.
Baron is likely to join Ibrox as the fourth Bosman player to sign this summer.
There is still work to be done on a deal for the Rangers before pre-season training starts on Monday, June 24.
It looks like Rangers will be able to sign Connor Barron.
The Gers have had a busy summer so far as Philippe Clement works to rebuild his team for next season.
And getting Barron ahead of clubs in England and Italy will be great for the Belgian, especially if he gets there in time for pre-season training.
After a disappointing end to the 2023–24 season, it was clear that the Gers would need to bring in more players to compete with Celtic next year.
Clement has been interested in Barron, and the Rangers manager will be thrilled that the club is going to sign him.
Three men have already signed at Ibrox: Jefte, Oscar Cortes, and Clinton Nsiala. It looks like Barron will be the fourth man to do so.
Philippe Clement will be delighted to see Rangers sign Connor Barron
Supporters at Ibrox will hope that this isn’t the end of the club’s summer transfers, and it doesn’t look like it will be.
Rangers will keep a staff member who is linked to leaving Clement’s job next season – Chris Jack
Chris Jack says that the Rangers are likely to keep Alex Rae on as a member of Philippe Clement’s backroom staff next season.
In an article posted on June 17, the Rangers Review website said that a journalist had learned that the Gers first team coach would not be fired because of his knowledge of Scottish football and the Light Blues.
Rae’s contract was said to be up this summer, and on May 20, the Daily Record said that changes would be made to the coaching staff.
After Michael Beale was fired last season, the former Ibrox midfielder was part of Steven Davis’s interim management team. We kept him on after Clement was hired.
Alex Rae will stay with Rangers.
The manager and Nils Koppen are making a lot of changes at Ibrox this summer. They did this because they missed the chance to win the Scottish Premiership last season.
The Belgian needs to do a good job because Michael Beale barely made it through the new season after his own makeover last year didn’t work.
A lot of people have come and gone at the top of the club, and former CEO James Bisgrove’s sudden move to Saudi Arabia caught the Rangers hierarchy by surprise [Scottish Sun, 30 May].
But it doesn’t look like Rae will be leaving along with Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe, whose contracts are about to expire. This means that an extension is either in the works or has already been agreed upon.
First-team coach Alex Rae had been tipped to leave Rangers this summer
John Lundstram and Borna Barisic are two more regulars on the first team who have left. They are both expected to join up with Trabzonspor in Turkey.
Many new players have already been hired, and many more are still to come. If Rae is still in charge when the next season starts, the team he coaches will look very different.
An eight-figure deal has been reached, and Rangers will announce a new signing in the next few days
The Daily Record says that Rangers will likely announce the signing of Hamza Igamane at Ibrox in the next few days.
Sunday (16 June), the news outlet said on its website that the Light Blues have agreed to a £1.7 million deal to bring the 21-year-old forward to Glasgow this summer. An announcement is now likely to be made soon.
The fee between the two clubs has already been agreed upon, but the FAR Rabat forward still needs to pass a medical before he can complete his move. He has also missed his team’s last few games because of injury.
Will Hamza Igamane be signed by Rangers and Philippe Clement this summer?
Many Celtic fans have been wanting a new striker for most of the Scottish Premiership season. Iagame wasn’t really seen as a possible target by fans, but he seems to be the perfect player for the Gers.
The Moroccan forward is seen as one of the best players in his country. He hasn’t played at the highest level yet, but in his short career, he has already shown that he knows where the goal is.
The £1.7 million fee isn’t a huge sum of money, but it’s enough for the Gers to pay for one player. Philippe Clement and his team must be expecting the young striker to do a great job right away and help them win the title.
Philippe Clement will be keen for Rangers to continue spending this summer
The 21-year-old’s injury shouldn’t get in the way of his medical, so he should be able to go through the motions without risking his move. If this deal falls through now, it would be terrible for everyone.
Let’s hope that the announcement comes from Ibrox in the next few days as planned.
Rangers reportedly paid £1.5 million for the player, but a decision hasn’t been made yet and could take weeks
Rangers fans probably have good reason to be a little worried about Yusuf Kabadayi’s next move.
The club has been able to hide any potential transfers in recent years, but as Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement try to catch more players, the leaks are getting worse.
We’re not talking about the Rangers players.
The doomed interest in Jose Cordoba was leaked in Panama and Bulgaria. The late-breaking interest in Nathaniel Adjei was heard in Sweden, and the first link to Yusuf Kabadayi was made in Germany.
That’s not even counting people like Daniel Garcia in Uruguay.
All of these public pursuits, besides Kabadayi, have one thing in common: Rangers have not been able to pull off the moves for some reason.
Some fans are biting their nails because Rangers’ apparent bid for the Bayern winger hasn’t moved yet, and a lot of pressure is starting to build on the window.

Kabadyi has “three choices.”
At the beginning of June, Sky Sports in Germany said that Rangers were the top team interested in signing Yusuf Kabadayi.
After a successful loan season at Schalke 04, a team that was short on cash, the 20-year-old winger went back to Bayern Munich.
A reputable journalist named Florian Plettenberg lit the blue touch paper and named the Ibrox club along with newly promoted Bundesliga team St. Pauli and Serie A team Lecce.

There has been a lot of talk since then, and Kabadayi has even been seen in the UK, but nothing solid to suggest that a deal is coming soon.
Rangers might have to pay around £1 million to £1.5 million to make the move permanent.
Der Western says that Kabadayi is still in tough talks with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, who are directors at Bayern.
There are still “three options” for Kabadayi’s future: a purchase, a loan-to-buy, or a new contract and loan. Nothing has been decided.
Therefore, Rangers fans who are eager to see the team keep their early promise of rebuilding will have to wait.
We hear you asking how long?
The German news source says that the situation could last for a few more weeks.
Rangers bring up a lot of nerves
The club has already signed three players this summer: Brazilian left back Jefte (Fluminense), Colombian winger Oscar Cortes (RC Lens), and French defender Clinton Nsiala (AC Milan).
Even though five first-team players and about 750 games were lost last week, there is still a lot of work to be done.
A lot of people on the squad need surgery, and the Rangers are said to have a lot of plans.
But fans have reason to be a little nervous since there haven’t been many transfers and Euro 2024 has already begun.
As soon as the tournament is over, Rangers will have to focus on competitive club games again. The summer will be very busy for them.
Knowing that Yusuf Kabadayi might not decide for weeks could make Rangers worried that they might be lied to and let down.
This window still has a lot of time to work its magic, but we expect the nerves to stay until the names are on the door and Nils Koppen’s vision for the Rangers becomes clear.
Some of the people honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours are Ally McCoist and Graeme Souness
Two Scots named in the King’s Birthday Honours are Ally McCoist and Graeme Souness. This award is given to people who have made important long-term contributions to the arts, sciences, medicine, or government.
As part of the King’s Birthday Honours list, Rangers legends Ally McCoist and Graeme Souness were given awards.
The award is given to people who have made important contributions to the arts, sciences, medicine, or the government over a long period of time. At any given time, only 65 people can receive it.
For his work in football and broadcasting, McCoist is getting an OBE. Graeme Souness, a fellow Scot and Rangers legend who is 71 years old, was also given an OBE for his work in football and charity. Souness swam across the English Channel for charity last year and raised more than £1 million for the Debra UK charity.
Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the Scottish Ambulance Service are just a few of the forces that will receive medals.
The King’s Police Medal will be given to Deputy Chief Superintendent Catriona Paton and Special Police Constable Alistair Cameron of Police Scotland. People who work as Chief Officer Ross Haggart, Crew Commander Gary Carroll, and Firefighter Lorraine Taylor will all receive the King’s Fire Service Medal. The King’s Ambulance Service Medal will be given to Liam Coughlan, who is Head of Programmes and Enabling Technology Manager for the Scottish Ambulance Service.
This year’s awards honour people who have made important contributions to society and who use creativity and teamwork to come up with new ideas that have an impact and add value. The theme of the awards is “change makers and innovators,” which fits with the message of the awards.
Gordon Brown, who was Prime Minister from 2010 to 2013, has also been given the Order of the Companions of Honour for his public and charitable work in the UK and around the world.
Yesterday, June 14, First Minister John Swinney congratulated people who had been given the Scotland’s Honour. He said, “Those honoured in The King’s Birthday Honours have all made huge differences in their communities and in public life. They have done great things in business, charity, education, sports, the arts, and science.” I’m happy to congratulate them. Their hard work and dedication make Scotland a better place for everyone.
“The people who have been given The King’s Police, Fire, or Ambulance Service Medals have worked very hard to keep us safe and serve our communities.” They deserve our deepest thanks and appreciation for the great work they do.
John Bennett agrees to splash huge cash for Rangers transfers after Philippe Clement talks – report
A report from the Daily Record says that John Bennett told Philippe Clement that Rangers has money to spend this summer.
On June 14, Andrew Newport wrote on the website of the paper that the executive chairman made it clear that the board is ready to “dig deep if required” as the manager and Nils Koppen, who is in charge of recruiting, look to make changes to the Light Blues team.
People say that Koppen has been “looking at numbers and talking to agents” for months before the transfer window opens.
In the wake of the shocking departure of CEO James Bisgrove to Saudi Arabia, Bennett had his job title changed. He has told Clement that the money will be made available for him to meet his goals.
Rangers’ transfer targets have been worked on for months by Nils Koppen.
Clement and Koppen tried to move quickly at the start of the summer. A deal was quickly completed to bring in Jefte, a left back target for January, and Oscar Cortes, who had been on loan, returned on a loan-to-buy deal.
Leon Balogun’s contract was extended, but a lot of first-team players were free to leave because their contracts were up. The team also signed young player Clinton Nsiala from AC Milan.
But it looks like a lot more work needs to be done before the summer is over for Rangers to be ready to get rid of Celtic. They missed their chance to do so last season.
Since Michael Beale failed at the same goal when he was supposed to update the Gers a year ago, there will be doubts that the money is available to do it.
It’s a good sign that Bennett is ready to let another manager start spending a lot of money right away.
But this time, there will be even more pressure to do it right because the money will be tighter if Rangers keep losing to their Old Firm rivals, especially if they have to hire a new manager every season.
So big players will have to be sold to help pay for the new ones that need to be brought in. The team could look very different when next season starts.
Rangers are to make their fourth summer signing, and the player is now expected to go through a medical
Connor Barron’s contract with Aberdeen expired at the end of the season. The Daily Record says that he will now have a medical at Rangers.
The newspaper said on its website on June 12 that Gers will be interested in the 21-year-old Scottish midfielder because Damian Garcia is close to signing a new deal at Penarol that includes a £7.7 million release clause.[Sport 890, June 12]
If Barron signs, he will be the fourth player to join this summer, after Jefte, Oscar Cortes (who signed a permanent deal), and Clinton Nsiala.
Damian Garcia’s backup on the Rangers seems to be Connor Barron.
Barron is about to get a medical at Ibrox, which suggests that the deal is well along. This shows that the club moved quickly after hearing that Garcia’s contract at Penarol was about to be extended.
This quick action suggests that the 21-year-old was, in fact, a backup option for the Uruguayan, and Gers didn’t waste any time hiring him when Garcia got hurt.
Barron is already scheduled to arrive for a medical, which shows how quickly and decisively the club is negotiating a transfer.
The speed with which they moved from one target to another shows that they are ready for anything that might happen in the transfer market.
Barron, a young and talented Scottish midfielder, could be a great addition to the team because he gives them depth and room to grow.
Rangers fans cheer at Ibrox
This also displays how hard Nils Koppen has worked behind the scenes, taking the initiative to achieve the desired goals.
Hearts star Lawrence Shankland should not be criticised by people in Scotland, says Kris Boyd
There are some fans of the striker who are criticising his game, but the former Rangers and Scotland star has told them to stop.
Some people are questioning whether or not Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland is qualified to play for Scotland, so Kris Boyd told his fans to stop worrying about him.
Shankland, the captain of the Jambos, scored an amazing 31 goals at Tynecastle last season and could start Friday’s Euro 2024 opener against hosts Germany in Munich. The forward scored his third goal for Scotland in last week’s 2-2 draw with Finland. He is now competing with Che Adams, a striker for Southampton, for a starting spot at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
Some Tartan Army members aren’t sure Shankland can lead the line at the European Championships, even though he scored a lot of goals in the Premiership.Gordon Strachan, who used to manage Scotland, recently spoke out in support of the forward and said Shankland could play with many teams at that level.
Boyd, who used to play for Rangers and Scotland, agreed and said he thought the 28-year-old would score a lot of goals at this summer’s tournament.
It doesn’t matter how many goals you score or how good you get as a player; people will always look for flaws in your game. That’s what’s happening with Lawrence right now. There are people who want to find flaws to pick on.
“He just scored 30 goals for Hearts again this season; he’s their star player and captain.” Since the goal doesn’t move, he will score goals if the chances are there. Even if the other team gets stronger, the goals will still be there, and Shankland always knows where to be. Yes, he will make a name for himself at Euro 2024 if his teammates can find him.
Boyd also thinks that Steve Clarke, the manager of Scotland, could easily go back to running a club, but he hopes that Clarke will stay in charge at Hampden for many more years.
“I worked with Steve at Kilmarnock,” he said. He did really well when he got back to Scotland. What he’s done since getting the job in Scotland is out of this world. I know Steve is good enough to manage a club again, but he’s at a point in his career where he can choose where he wants to go. Steve Clarke has full control over what he does next.
“During his career, he spent a lot of time away from his family. Now that he’s finally caught up on work, he can finally spend time with them.” He’s having a good time, and I don’t want him to quit his job as manager of Scotland.
“Steve Clarke could go back to managing in the Premier League, but I just talked to him and he seems to be getting along fine.” He’s very pleased with his present situation.
“Brilliant News”: Pundit says Rangers may keep their best player after the “crazy” situation
Derek Ferguson said that the fact that Rangers might be able to keep Jack Butland for a long time was “brilliant news.”
Since Nottingham Forest tried to buy him in January [Sun, 24 February], there has been a lot of talk that the former Crystal Palace player might leave this summer in a big deal.
Alan Nixon, a journalist, said on May 28 that the English top flight is not interested right now.
The star custodian was the “best player” at Ibrox for most of last season, even though he made a mistake late in the Scottish Cup final, which Ferguson calls “crazy.”
So he’s excited about the idea that Butland, who is 31 years old, might stay in Glasgow with Philippe Clement until the transfer window closes.
“It’s crazy, isn’t it?” he told Ibrox News in an exclusive interview. He most likely made his only mistake of the season in a very bad game.
“That was likely the first shot he had to really deal with, and I think he tried to guess where the ball was going and hit it a little early.”
“That’s too bad, because he’s been our best player all season. But the fact that Jack Butland has been our best player says a lot about Rangers.”
“Every time he was asked to come up with the goods, he did, and it’s so sad that.”
But if Jack Butland is going to be in goal for the long term, that’s great news for me.
“Because he’s a leader in that locker room, and I think that’s what the manager wants to bring in.”
“He wants to bring in the right kind of player with the right mindset.”
“He fits the bill.” I believe he is the best. We all make mistakes; it’s just too bad that a few of the boys weren’t able to clear that up against Celtic and get him out of jail. But that’s life.
If the Rangers can keep Jack Butland, it could be very good for Philippe Clement.
Robert McCrorie is leaving the Rangers, but Jack Butland could stay.
Rangers will have a new custodian this summer. Robby McCrorie turned down a new contract [Daily Record, 4 June], so he is likely to be sold. Liam Kelly, on the other hand, is likely to come back to replace him.
Rangers Review (June 4) says that the opening bid for Butland is at least £10 million. If he were to be sold, that amount of money could be used to fund several new deals, but it would be hard to find a similar player without spending a lot of that money.
It would keep an important part of the Gers team for the manager to build around if he stays, even if the mistake against Celtic didn’t change anything.
Ibrox view: Rangers are getting close to deciding whether to bring back Abdallah Sima, and Brighton is about to set a record-setting goal score
Since Brighton is about to hire a new manager, Abdallah Sima will soon know if his future includes going back to Rangers.
The Senegalese forward was a great addition to Glasgow’s team last season. He scored 16 goals across all competitions while mostly playing off the left wing, even though he was hurt for three months from January to April.
That return is a big part of how many goals Michael Beale and Philippe Clement scored last season, which makes a deal to keep him at Ibrox appealing if it works out financially.
There have been several public statements by Sima saying that he would like to stay at Rangers if an agreement can be reached between the two clubs.
Rangers Review said on June 6 that he probably wouldn’t be told about his future until Brighton hired a new manager. They fired Roberto De Zerbi at the end of the season, and now they’re about to do that.
Fabian Hurzeler will take over for Roberto De Zerbi at the Amex
Sky Sports reported on June 9 that the Seagulls had gotten Fabian Hurzeler, the manager of St. Pauli, a work permit. If he takes over at the Amex, the 31-year-old will become the youngest Premier League manager ever.
After a day, Fabrizio Romano said that the German is likely to sign a deal down south in the next 48 hours, while talks on a compensation deal for the record-breaking move continue.
It’s clear that what Hurzeler plans to do with Sima will have a big impact on the 22-year-old’s future. If the coach doesn’t see him in the plans for next season, it would make it more likely that he comes back to the Rangers.
The wide player hasn’t played for his parent club yet because he moved to the Light Blues after loans at Stoke City and Angers.
Derek Ferguson of Ibrox News, on the other hand, isn’t sure if the club can afford to sign Sima to a permanent deal because he thinks it would cost eight figures.
It would cost a lot to sign Rangers for good.
Because they bought him for £6 million from Slavia Prague in 2021, the Seagulls probably won’t want to let him go for free. However, The Athletic reported at the time of the original deal that there was thought to be an option for an extra year.
If Hurzeler doesn’t think Sima is ready to play in the Premier League, and the player has made it clear that he feels at home at Rangers, Brighton could choose to exercise his contract option and let him come back on a second loan deal, unless they get a better offer from somewhere else.
As a result, the English club is almost certain to get a new manager, which will be a big step towards Sima finding out where he will play next season.
