Rock icon Robert Plant recently expressed that it is “insane” that fans ignore some of Led Zeppelin’s best songs.
In a recent interview with Mojo Magazine, Plant highlighted some lesser-known tracks that he considers standout pieces, particularly from the 1976 album Presence. He mentioned “For Your Life” and “Achilles Last Stand” as examples of powerful, innovative songs that many fans overlook. Plant praised the exceptional chemistry among band members John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Jimmy Page on these tracks, calling their musical collaboration extraordinary.
Plant also shared that while Led Zeppelin is widely known for hits like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Black Dog,” many of their deeper cuts deserve more recognition. He expressed a nuanced perspective on playing Zeppelin’s most famous songs in his solo career, saying that he sees the hits as a sort of memoir but doesn’t necessarily relate to or prefer performing them.
In summary, Robert Plant believes that some of Led Zeppelin’s greatest songs, such as “For Your Life” and “Achilles Last Stand,” have been overlooked by fans, and he finds it surprising given their quality and the band’s groundbreaking work on those tracks. This comment points to the rich depth in Led Zeppelin’s catalog beyond just their well-known anthems.
