Some of the people honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours are Ally McCoist and Graeme Souness
Two Scots named in the King’s Birthday Honours are Ally McCoist and Graeme Souness. This award is given to people who have made important long-term contributions to the arts, sciences, medicine, or government.
As part of the King’s Birthday Honours list, Rangers legends Ally McCoist and Graeme Souness were given awards.
The award is given to people who have made important contributions to the arts, sciences, medicine, or the government over a long period of time. At any given time, only 65 people can receive it.
For his work in football and broadcasting, McCoist is getting an OBE. Graeme Souness, a fellow Scot and Rangers legend who is 71 years old, was also given an OBE for his work in football and charity. Souness swam across the English Channel for charity last year and raised more than £1 million for the Debra UK charity.
Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the Scottish Ambulance Service are just a few of the forces that will receive medals.
The King’s Police Medal will be given to Deputy Chief Superintendent Catriona Paton and Special Police Constable Alistair Cameron of Police Scotland. People who work as Chief Officer Ross Haggart, Crew Commander Gary Carroll, and Firefighter Lorraine Taylor will all receive the King’s Fire Service Medal. The King’s Ambulance Service Medal will be given to Liam Coughlan, who is Head of Programmes and Enabling Technology Manager for the Scottish Ambulance Service.
This year’s awards honour people who have made important contributions to society and who use creativity and teamwork to come up with new ideas that have an impact and add value. The theme of the awards is “change makers and innovators,” which fits with the message of the awards.
Gordon Brown, who was Prime Minister from 2010 to 2013, has also been given the Order of the Companions of Honour for his public and charitable work in the UK and around the world.
Yesterday, June 14, First Minister John Swinney congratulated people who had been given the Scotland’s Honour. He said, “Those honoured in The King’s Birthday Honours have all made huge differences in their communities and in public life. They have done great things in business, charity, education, sports, the arts, and science.” I’m happy to congratulate them. Their hard work and dedication make Scotland a better place for everyone.
“The people who have been given The King’s Police, Fire, or Ambulance Service Medals have worked very hard to keep us safe and serve our communities.” They deserve our deepest thanks and appreciation for the great work they do.
John Bennett agrees to splash huge cash for Rangers transfers after Philippe Clement talks – report
A report from the Daily Record says that John Bennett told Philippe Clement that Rangers has money to spend this summer.
On June 14, Andrew Newport wrote on the website of the paper that the executive chairman made it clear that the board is ready to “dig deep if required” as the manager and Nils Koppen, who is in charge of recruiting, look to make changes to the Light Blues team.
People say that Koppen has been “looking at numbers and talking to agents” for months before the transfer window opens.
In the wake of the shocking departure of CEO James Bisgrove to Saudi Arabia, Bennett had his job title changed. He has told Clement that the money will be made available for him to meet his goals.
Rangers’ transfer targets have been worked on for months by Nils Koppen.
Clement and Koppen tried to move quickly at the start of the summer. A deal was quickly completed to bring in Jefte, a left back target for January, and Oscar Cortes, who had been on loan, returned on a loan-to-buy deal.
Leon Balogun’s contract was extended, but a lot of first-team players were free to leave because their contracts were up. The team also signed young player Clinton Nsiala from AC Milan.
But it looks like a lot more work needs to be done before the summer is over for Rangers to be ready to get rid of Celtic. They missed their chance to do so last season.
Since Michael Beale failed at the same goal when he was supposed to update the Gers a year ago, there will be doubts that the money is available to do it.
It’s a good sign that Bennett is ready to let another manager start spending a lot of money right away.
But this time, there will be even more pressure to do it right because the money will be tighter if Rangers keep losing to their Old Firm rivals, especially if they have to hire a new manager every season.
So big players will have to be sold to help pay for the new ones that need to be brought in. The team could look very different when next season starts.
Rangers are to make their fourth summer signing, and the player is now expected to go through a medical
Connor Barron’s contract with Aberdeen expired at the end of the season. The Daily Record says that he will now have a medical at Rangers.
The newspaper said on its website on June 12 that Gers will be interested in the 21-year-old Scottish midfielder because Damian Garcia is close to signing a new deal at Penarol that includes a £7.7 million release clause.[Sport 890, June 12]
If Barron signs, he will be the fourth player to join this summer, after Jefte, Oscar Cortes (who signed a permanent deal), and Clinton Nsiala.
Damian Garcia’s backup on the Rangers seems to be Connor Barron.
Barron is about to get a medical at Ibrox, which suggests that the deal is well along. This shows that the club moved quickly after hearing that Garcia’s contract at Penarol was about to be extended.
This quick action suggests that the 21-year-old was, in fact, a backup option for the Uruguayan, and Gers didn’t waste any time hiring him when Garcia got hurt.
Barron is already scheduled to arrive for a medical, which shows how quickly and decisively the club is negotiating a transfer.
The speed with which they moved from one target to another shows that they are ready for anything that might happen in the transfer market.
Barron, a young and talented Scottish midfielder, could be a great addition to the team because he gives them depth and room to grow.
Rangers fans cheer at Ibrox
This also displays how hard Nils Koppen has worked behind the scenes, taking the initiative to achieve the desired goals.
Hearts star Lawrence Shankland should not be criticised by people in Scotland, says Kris Boyd
There are some fans of the striker who are criticising his game, but the former Rangers and Scotland star has told them to stop.
Some people are questioning whether or not Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland is qualified to play for Scotland, so Kris Boyd told his fans to stop worrying about him.
Shankland, the captain of the Jambos, scored an amazing 31 goals at Tynecastle last season and could start Friday’s Euro 2024 opener against hosts Germany in Munich. The forward scored his third goal for Scotland in last week’s 2-2 draw with Finland. He is now competing with Che Adams, a striker for Southampton, for a starting spot at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
Some Tartan Army members aren’t sure Shankland can lead the line at the European Championships, even though he scored a lot of goals in the Premiership.Gordon Strachan, who used to manage Scotland, recently spoke out in support of the forward and said Shankland could play with many teams at that level.
Boyd, who used to play for Rangers and Scotland, agreed and said he thought the 28-year-old would score a lot of goals at this summer’s tournament.
It doesn’t matter how many goals you score or how good you get as a player; people will always look for flaws in your game. That’s what’s happening with Lawrence right now. There are people who want to find flaws to pick on.
“He just scored 30 goals for Hearts again this season; he’s their star player and captain.” Since the goal doesn’t move, he will score goals if the chances are there. Even if the other team gets stronger, the goals will still be there, and Shankland always knows where to be. Yes, he will make a name for himself at Euro 2024 if his teammates can find him.
Boyd also thinks that Steve Clarke, the manager of Scotland, could easily go back to running a club, but he hopes that Clarke will stay in charge at Hampden for many more years.
“I worked with Steve at Kilmarnock,” he said. He did really well when he got back to Scotland. What he’s done since getting the job in Scotland is out of this world. I know Steve is good enough to manage a club again, but he’s at a point in his career where he can choose where he wants to go. Steve Clarke has full control over what he does next.
“During his career, he spent a lot of time away from his family. Now that he’s finally caught up on work, he can finally spend time with them.” He’s having a good time, and I don’t want him to quit his job as manager of Scotland.
“Steve Clarke could go back to managing in the Premier League, but I just talked to him and he seems to be getting along fine.” He’s very pleased with his present situation.
“Brilliant News”: Pundit says Rangers may keep their best player after the “crazy” situation
Derek Ferguson said that the fact that Rangers might be able to keep Jack Butland for a long time was “brilliant news.”
Since Nottingham Forest tried to buy him in January [Sun, 24 February], there has been a lot of talk that the former Crystal Palace player might leave this summer in a big deal.
Alan Nixon, a journalist, said on May 28 that the English top flight is not interested right now.
The star custodian was the “best player” at Ibrox for most of last season, even though he made a mistake late in the Scottish Cup final, which Ferguson calls “crazy.”
So he’s excited about the idea that Butland, who is 31 years old, might stay in Glasgow with Philippe Clement until the transfer window closes.
“It’s crazy, isn’t it?” he told Ibrox News in an exclusive interview. He most likely made his only mistake of the season in a very bad game.
“That was likely the first shot he had to really deal with, and I think he tried to guess where the ball was going and hit it a little early.”
“That’s too bad, because he’s been our best player all season. But the fact that Jack Butland has been our best player says a lot about Rangers.”
“Every time he was asked to come up with the goods, he did, and it’s so sad that.”
But if Jack Butland is going to be in goal for the long term, that’s great news for me.
“Because he’s a leader in that locker room, and I think that’s what the manager wants to bring in.”
“He wants to bring in the right kind of player with the right mindset.”
“He fits the bill.” I believe he is the best. We all make mistakes; it’s just too bad that a few of the boys weren’t able to clear that up against Celtic and get him out of jail. But that’s life.
If the Rangers can keep Jack Butland, it could be very good for Philippe Clement.
Robert McCrorie is leaving the Rangers, but Jack Butland could stay.
Rangers will have a new custodian this summer. Robby McCrorie turned down a new contract [Daily Record, 4 June], so he is likely to be sold. Liam Kelly, on the other hand, is likely to come back to replace him.
Rangers Review (June 4) says that the opening bid for Butland is at least £10 million. If he were to be sold, that amount of money could be used to fund several new deals, but it would be hard to find a similar player without spending a lot of that money.
It would keep an important part of the Gers team for the manager to build around if he stays, even if the mistake against Celtic didn’t change anything.
Ibrox view: Rangers are getting close to deciding whether to bring back Abdallah Sima, and Brighton is about to set a record-setting goal score
Since Brighton is about to hire a new manager, Abdallah Sima will soon know if his future includes going back to Rangers.
The Senegalese forward was a great addition to Glasgow’s team last season. He scored 16 goals across all competitions while mostly playing off the left wing, even though he was hurt for three months from January to April.
That return is a big part of how many goals Michael Beale and Philippe Clement scored last season, which makes a deal to keep him at Ibrox appealing if it works out financially.
There have been several public statements by Sima saying that he would like to stay at Rangers if an agreement can be reached between the two clubs.
Rangers Review said on June 6 that he probably wouldn’t be told about his future until Brighton hired a new manager. They fired Roberto De Zerbi at the end of the season, and now they’re about to do that.
Fabian Hurzeler will take over for Roberto De Zerbi at the Amex
Sky Sports reported on June 9 that the Seagulls had gotten Fabian Hurzeler, the manager of St. Pauli, a work permit. If he takes over at the Amex, the 31-year-old will become the youngest Premier League manager ever.
After a day, Fabrizio Romano said that the German is likely to sign a deal down south in the next 48 hours, while talks on a compensation deal for the record-breaking move continue.
It’s clear that what Hurzeler plans to do with Sima will have a big impact on the 22-year-old’s future. If the coach doesn’t see him in the plans for next season, it would make it more likely that he comes back to the Rangers.
The wide player hasn’t played for his parent club yet because he moved to the Light Blues after loans at Stoke City and Angers.
Derek Ferguson of Ibrox News, on the other hand, isn’t sure if the club can afford to sign Sima to a permanent deal because he thinks it would cost eight figures.
It would cost a lot to sign Rangers for good.
Because they bought him for £6 million from Slavia Prague in 2021, the Seagulls probably won’t want to let him go for free. However, The Athletic reported at the time of the original deal that there was thought to be an option for an extra year.
If Hurzeler doesn’t think Sima is ready to play in the Premier League, and the player has made it clear that he feels at home at Rangers, Brighton could choose to exercise his contract option and let him come back on a second loan deal, unless they get a better offer from somewhere else.
As a result, the English club is almost certain to get a new manager, which will be a big step towards Sima finding out where he will play next season.
