February, 2021
On February 2, 2021, Shiffrin’s father, Jeff, passed away. Kilde chose to convey a message of condolence to Shiffrin via Instagram.

They began officially communicating with each other in the autumn of that year and began dating outside of the public light.

The duo will compete in the FIS Ski World Cup in Sölden, Austria, where they first met. Kilde finished second overall in the men’s division, while Shiffrin won first place in the women’s division.

Kilde crashes while participating, hitting the safety net at 120 mph. He is transported to the hospital, banged up and battered, and Shiffrin nurses him back to health. In an Instagram post on the event, he adds, “This sport can be brutal, but I still love it”.

26th January, 2024

During Kilde’s recovery, Shiffrin experiences her own fall after losing balance while skiing. The two bubbles combine to rebound beside one another.
