“They are missing him,” Rafael Benitez says of his former club. Newcastle are distraught after losing Alexander Isak to Liverpool following his stunning Champions League debut
Rafael Benitez thinks Newcastle United are already “missing” Alexander Isak after his big-money move to Liverpool. After going on strike and attempting to force a move away from St James’ Park, the Sweden international signed for the Reds on transfer deadline day for a British record sum of £125 million ($169 million). Now, the Spaniard, who has managed both sides, believes Isak’s exit is a significant loss for the Magpies.

Alexander Isak’s First Interview as a Liverpool FC Player

Benitez admits Newcastle misses Isak.
During an interview with TNT Sports, he revealed that Newcastle United fans miss him. “He was doing so well; he was assimilating to the style and the game. He has excellent moving skills; he can play in the middle or wide. He runs in behind and can dribble. So I believe it will be a fantastic signing for Liverpool and a huge miss for Newcastle United.”
Isak is one of the world’s top strikers.
Newcastle should be understandably disappointed with the loss of Isak, even if it came at a high cost. He scored 62 goals in 109 appearances, exceeding the 20-goal mark in each of his last two seasons. Because of the multitude of opportunities that Liverpool creates, Isak might become even more prolific. Eddie Howe’s club hopes to fill Isak’s void with new acquisitions Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.
What’s next for Isak and Liverpool?
Isak didn’t have much of a pre-season as he attempted to force Newcastle out. Despite his lack of training, Slot was impressed with his sharpness on his Liverpool debut. As a result, the Swede may be able to participate in Saturday’s Merseyside derby against Everton.
