American alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin took to social media to express her excitement for the start of the 2025-26 alpine ski season. Shiffrin’s season will begin on October 25th with the Giant Slalom event in Sölden, Austria, followed by the Levi slalom in Finland on November 15. Shiffrin finished last season on a high note, winning her 101st World Cup, the most by any alpine skier in history.

Mikaela Shiffrin has been training in the La Parva ski resort in Chile in preparation for the upcoming season, alongside other members of the US Alpine ski team and her husband, Aleksander Kilde, who is recovering from injury. Shiffrin also had an abdominal injury during a World Cup race last season, and only returned to compete in January.

On Instagram, Shiffrin provided a few hidden training glances as she prepares for the start of the season:

“It is October…” Who is ready for winter?! ❄️⛷️🫠😅🩵”

Mikaela Shiffrin aims to win her third Olympic gold medal in Milan next year, so she’ll focus on her forthcoming races.

Mikaela Shiffrin recently acknowledged the difficulty of competing in the 24/25 World Cup season. In an interview with USA Today, she stated:

“Everyone is coping with something. I think the most difficult aspect of this season has been the peaks and valleys. I prefer to function on a more steady keel, even emotionally. But when there are both extremely excellent and terribly horrible moments, it takes all of my energy just to manage it.”

She also mentioned competing in the Milan Olympics, saying:

“There is a lot of pressure surrounding the Games. I want to be able to say that I’m just doing this for me and for fun, but the truth is that we all feel pressure. There aren’t many things in life that feel as good as holding a gold medal. Or any Olympic medal. It represents the result of a lot of effort. I’d love to be able to go to Cortina next year with the mindset that it’s more of a privilege and opportunity than a pressure.”

Mikaela Shiffrin, who has won five World Cup titles, hopes to win another before the new season begins.
