ESPN has named the Alabama Crimson Tide cheerleading team the greatest in the world following a spectacular, record-breaking performance that enthralled a worldwide audience. Their ground-breaking routine elevated the sport to new heights and displayed unparalleled athleticism.
Alabama Crimson Tide Cheerleading Team: A Triumph of Spirit and Athleticism
In a dazzling display of athleticism and spirit, the University of Alabama’s cheerleading team clinched their seventh national title at the 2025 UCA College Nationals, held at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
A Historic Victory
The Crimson Tide’s co-ed squad delivered a near-flawless routine, earning a raw score of 94.8 in the final round, narrowly surpassing the University of South Florida’s 94.6. This victory marks Alabama’s first co-ed national championship since 2015 and their fourth overall in the co-ed division.
Jennifer Thrasher, UA’s Director of Spirit Programs, expressed her pride: “We’ve come so close, but this competition is tough. It’s gratifying to see these athletes work so hard to represent their university in a positive way and then have the reward of winning a championship!”
A Legacy of Excellence
The Crimson Tide’s cheerleading program has a storied history. In 2015, Alabama made history by becoming the first school to win both the Coed and All-Girl Division IA titles in the same season at the UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship.
The all-girl squad has also seen significant success, securing national titles in 2015, 2020, and 2022. Their consistent top-three finishes in recent years underscore the program’s depth and commitment to excellence.
The Road to Victory
Preparation for the national championship is a rigorous process. The team balances cheering at various athletic events, including football, basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics, with intense practice sessions.
The routines are judged on stunting, tumbling skills, crowd-leading abilities, and overall performance. The Crimson Tide’s ability to excel in these areas is a testament to their dedication and hard work.
A Bright Future
With this latest victory, the University of Alabama’s cheerleading program continues to solidify its reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate cheerleading. The team’s commitment to excellence, both on and off the mat, serves as an inspiration to aspiring cheerleaders nationwide.
As the Crimson Tide celebrates this monumental achievement, the future looks bright for a program that embodies the spirit and determination of the University of Alabama.
