Lincoln City is investing £10 million in Sincil Bank.
Lincoln City have embarked on an ambitious £10 million redevelopment project at Sincil Bank following their promotion-winning campaign, underlining the club’s commitment to both its future ambitions and its long-term home.
The Imps secured the League One title in April, sealing a remarkable return to the second tier of English football for the first time in 65 years. Promotion represented a historic achievement for the club and has provided the catalyst for significant investment in both infrastructure and supporter facilities.

The club says the work will be completed before the new season starts
Work on the redevelopment began shortly after Lincoln confirmed promotion, with construction teams moving quickly to ensure the stadium is ready for the club’s return to Championship football. The extensive project will transform several key areas of Sincil Bank, enhancing the matchday experience for supporters while also providing improved facilities for players, staff and the wider community.
Jason Futers, Lincoln City’s chief growth and innovation officer, described the summer as one of the busiest and most exciting periods in recent memory for the football club.
According to Futers, substantial progress has already been made across multiple aspects of the redevelopment, with work continuing at a rapid pace ahead of the new campaign.
One of the most significant elements of the project is the complete transformation of the stadium’s fan zone. Club officials believe the upgraded area will provide supporters with a far more enjoyable and modern experience on matchdays while also creating opportunities for additional events throughout the year.
The redevelopment will also lead to an increase in the overall capacity of Sincil Bank. Once completed, the stadium will be capable of accommodating more than 11,000 spectators, allowing more fans to attend matches as interest in the club continues to grow following promotion.
Another major change involves the hospitality areas within the ground. Existing executive boxes have been removed and replaced by 412 new premium seats. These seats have been designed to offer supporters a high-quality viewing experience and provide excellent sightlines across the pitch.
Futers highlighted the quality of the new seating arrangements, explaining that they offer outstanding views of the action and form an important part of the club’s efforts to modernise the stadium.
Beyond matchday improvements, Lincoln City are also investing heavily in facilities that can be used throughout the year. A new 500-seat conference centre is being constructed as part of the redevelopment, creating opportunities to host business events, meetings and corporate functions.
Alongside the conference centre, plans include the addition of a banquet suite capable of accommodating a wide range of social and community events. Club officials believe these new spaces will help establish Sincil Bank as a key venue within the local area while also generating additional revenue streams.

A new fan village is part of the planned upgrades
Supporters will also benefit from the construction of a new clubhouse and a community coffee shop. These facilities are intended to strengthen the connection between the football club and the city, providing welcoming spaces for supporters and local residents alike.
The redevelopment includes several technological upgrades as well. Three large video screens are being installed around the stadium to improve the matchday atmosphere and provide fans with better access to replays, information and entertainment.
In addition, new pitchside LED advertising boards and lighting systems are being introduced, bringing the stadium closer to the standards expected at Championship level and enhancing the overall presentation of matches.
Despite the scale of the redevelopment, Futers expressed confidence that all work will be completed on schedule.
He stated that the project remains firmly on track and insisted the stadium will be fully prepared for the start of the upcoming season. Ensuring minimal disruption while delivering such a significant transformation has been a major priority for the club throughout the construction process.
Promotion to the Championship inevitably led to speculation regarding Lincoln City’s long-term future and whether the club might eventually seek a new stadium elsewhere.
However, Futers moved quickly to dismiss those suggestions, making it clear that Sincil Bank remains central to the club’s plans.
He stressed that Lincoln City’s current focus is entirely on remaining at their historic home and developing it into a venue capable of supporting the club’s ambitions for many years to come.
According to Futers, the scale of the investment itself should serve as a clear indication of the club’s intentions. Committing £10 million to the redevelopment of Sincil Bank demonstrates confidence in the stadium and reinforces the belief that it can continue to serve as Lincoln City’s home as the club progresses.
Rather than searching for a new site, Lincoln are choosing to modernise and expand the facilities already available to them, ensuring supporters can continue enjoying football at a venue with deep historical and emotional significance.
Futers also emphasised the importance of the club’s role within the local community. He explained that community engagement remains a core value at Lincoln City and has been a major consideration throughout the planning and development process.
Many of the new facilities are specifically designed to benefit local residents as well as football supporters. The conference centre, banquet suite, clubhouse and coffee shop are expected to become valuable community assets, helping strengthen ties between the club and the people it serves.
The redevelopment is therefore about far more than football alone. While the upgrades will undoubtedly improve the matchday experience and help Lincoln compete at a higher level, they also reflect a broader vision for the club’s place within the city.
As Lincoln City prepare for life back in the Championship after a six-and-a-half-decade absence, the transformation of Sincil Bank stands as a symbol of the progress being made both on and off the pitch.
The club’s promotion success has provided momentum for a major investment programme, and officials are confident that the redevelopment will position Lincoln strongly for the future.
With construction progressing well, expanded facilities taking shape and the club committed to its historic home, supporters have plenty of reasons to look forward to the new season. The £10 million project represents not only an investment in infrastructure but also a statement of ambition as Lincoln City begin an exciting new chapter in their history.
